Enraged Woman Spits On Ed Martin During Live Interview

A woman spat on Acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Ed Martin during a live interview Thursday after the Trump administration rescinded his nomination as the DC’s top prosecutor, according to footage.

Martin is in the middle of a live interview with Newsmax when the woman, who was walking a dog, appears in the video shared by Rob Schmitt, a Newsmax anchor.

“Who the f— are you? You are Ed Martin!” she shouts. She can then be seen spitting a projectile of saliva at him.

Martin was speaking on Newsmax’s The Chris Salcedo Show at the time, according to Newsweek. He was reacting to President Donald Trump’s rescission of Martin’s nomination to serve as the U.S. attorney for the D.C., the New York Post reported.

“You are a disgusting man,” the woman appeared to add as she stormed away from view, the video shows.

The incident has drawn reactions. Schmitt dubbed the woman in the video a “psychotic lib,” adding that he hoped “she’s ready for a nice stretch in jail.” Others alleged that the woman assaulted Martin and should be charged accordingly.

Podcaster and Daily Caller Editorial Director Vince Coglianese posted that Martin told him the U.S. Marshals knew who the woman was and would arrest her. “Also, she clearly ID’d him as ‘Ed Martin,’ leaving no doubt that she was targeting a federal official,” Coglianese alleged.

Trump pulled his nomination of Martin after lawmakers on both sides of the aisle expressed concern about his alleged partisanship and legal experience, according to The Associated Press (AP). (RELATED: Trump Reveals Fate Of Ed Martin After Key GOP Senator Drops Support)

Martin’s appointment as interim top D.C. prosecutor made him the first to occupy the post in at least half a century without previously serving as a judge or federal prosecutor, according to The Washington Post. He oversaw the firings of several prosecutors who worked on cases connected to the Jan. 6, 2021 riots at the Capitol, according to CBS.

Trump ultimately rescinded Martin’s nomination when Republican North Carolina Sen. Thom Tillis announced that he would oppose it primarily because Martin and he had different views on the January 6 rioters.

Senate Majority Leader and Republican South Dakota Sen. John Thune said Tillis refusing to vote for Martin would likely stall him in the Senate Judiciary Committee, according to CBS.

Trump later appointed Fox News host and former District Attorney of Westchester County Jeanne Pirro to replace Martin. Tillis praised the choice of Pirro.

Trump also announced that Martin would now head the Department of Justice’s Weaponization Working Group and serve as associate deputy attorney general and pardon attorney.
