Tom Homan on how ICE will handle sanctuary cities: ‘Flood the zone’

Amid the growing media outcry, border czar Tom Homan let it be known this week that the Trump administration will be ramping up its efforts to deport illegal immigrants.

Appearing on Fox Business, Homan told host Stuart Varney that the administration is going to “flood the zone” with ICE agents in Democrat-run sanctuary cities.

Varney asked Homan, who has estimated that there are over 20 million illegal immigrants in America, how many deportations have taken place so far and if they’ve gotten the “worst of the worst.” His guest replied, “Over a hundred thousand… we got a long ways to go.”

“We’re going to increase the number of the operation teams,” he said. “We’re going to increase worksite enforcement. Because of sanctuary cities’ policy — what we’re going to do with sanctuary cities: we are going to flood the zone.”

“So if one agent can’t arrest one bad guy in the jail, and they choose to release him in the community, the whole team will look for him,” Homan explained. “So in sanctuary cities, we’re going to flood the zones with agents. If we can’t take him in the jail, like we should, the safety and security of a jail, then we’ll go to the community and find him. And that takes a lot of people.”

“So if we can’t arrest him in the jail, we’ll arrest him in the community,” he continued. “If we can’t find him community, we’ll arrest him at the worksite. We’re going to increase worksite investigations, too.”

Homan delivered an ominous message last week to individuals who cross the line in offering sanctuary to illegal immigrants, suggesting that legal action is coming down the pike as Democrats double down on protecting illegal aliens, including those suspected of being violent gang members.

“The President signed an executive order just this week threatening to defund sanctuary cities. Why not just arrest leaders who are harboring and shielding illegal aliens, actually terrorists, from deportation?” a reporter asked the Trump official.

“Wait until you see what’s coming,” the border czar replied.
