Police Scotland Battling ‘Gang Wars’ Hiring £70,000 Diversity Officer
Scotland has been swept up in a wave of gang violence, with feuding crime families fighting for control of the drug market. There have been over a dozen arson attacks in Glasgow and Edinburgh in the last two months, and locals are comparing the turf war on their streets to The Godfather. The force is hiring an ‘Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Lead’ on a generous £70,003 annual salary. The officer will lead the EDI team and “influence, encourage and support” the force to “eliminate discrimination, create equal opportunities” and “incorporate diversity.” Probably not top of Scots’ concerns right now…
For £70,000 you could:
- Hire two Scottish police officers.
- Purchase six unmarked police cars.
- Buy 220 stab-proof vests.
Joanna Marchong at the TaxPayers’ Alliance said: “Taxpayers north of the border are sick of Police Scotland prioritising diversity officers over cracking down on drug lords.” The Scottish taxpayer may have a view on which should be prioritised. UK DOGE recommends costs are cut here…
