President Donald Trump unloaded on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a fiery interview Friday night, accusing the wartime leader of mismanaging the billions in U.S. aid sent to Ukraine amid its ongoing conflict with Russia.
Speaking with Fox News’ Bret Baier on Special Report, Trump said he was less concerned with the sheer size of Washington’s support for Ukraine than how the funds were handled. “The money is the money,” Trump said. “What bothered me — I hated to see the way it was, you know, excuse me, pissed away.” (RELATED: EXCLUSIVE: Senior White House Officials Detail How Trump-Zelenskyy Oval Meeting Went Off The Rails)

Trump took direct aim at Zelensky, suggesting the Ukrainian president has become a master manipulator when it comes to securing American dollars. “I think he’s the greatest salesman in the world. Far better than me,” Trump quipped, expressing frustration that enormous aid packages seemed to coincide with each of Zelensky’s trips to the U.S.
“I hated to see that checks were sent for $60 billion every time Zelensky [traveled to Washington],” he said. “Where is all this money going?”
The president’s remarks come as U.S. officials warn that the last of the current congressional funding for Ukraine could be exhausted by June. Since Russia’s invasion in February 2022, the U.S. has approved approximately $175 billion in aid.
While Baier attempted to steer the conversation toward Russian President Vladimir Putin and potential sanctions, Trump redirected his fire toward Ukraine’s Western allies. “We send checks. We don’t always send equipment. We send — just checks. We send — just cash,” he said. “We’ve been treated worse than Europe [by Ukraine].”
Trump also floated the idea of a future meeting with Putin, predicting that he could broker a peace agreement swiftly. “I think we’ll do it fast,” he said, adding that Putin “wants to look good” and is likely weary of the ongoing conflict.
