Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison’s support for boys playing in girls’ sports has attracted backlash from one notable figure.
That figure is former Minnesota Vikings and University of Minnesota football player Jack Brewer, a pro-Trump guy who famously spoke at the 2020 Republican National Convention:
Powerful truth ! Moving . Inspiring! Regardless of skin color, party affiliations or walk of faith, Jack Brewer’s heart felt speach should be enough to make people see love, understanding, peace. Listen with a humble heart pic.twitter.com/WlejC5wNf4

“Clearly, Keith Ellison, the attorney general of Minnesota, has never played any major sports,” Brewer told Fox News this week. “It’s like he’s never stepped foot in a real locker room, especially not one where the sport demanded true athleticism, grit and toughness.”
“It’s embarrassing to watch a black man stand before the nation and promote boys competing against girls,” he added.
Ellison is one of several Democrat attorneys general who’ve sued the Trump administration Department of Justice for banning boys from competing in girls’ sports.
“Trump’s unconscionable attack on this small number of vulnerable children is bullying, plain and simple,” he said in a statement last month. “I’ve been around my share of bullies in my life, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that you don’t give bullies an inch. We’re not going to cave at the expense of trans kids — or any vulnerable community that needs our compassion and protection.”
He also claimed that his suit was meant to preempt a lawsuit from the Trump administration.
“I’m not going to sit around waiting for the Trump administration to sue Minnesota,” he said. “Today, Minnesota is suing him and his administration because we will not participate in this shameful bullying. We will not let a small group of vulnerable children who are only trying be healthy and live their lives be demonized.”
Donald Trump and his administration are threatening to cut off our federal funding unless we turn our backs on trans kids.
This is bullying, plain and simple. I will always stand up for the rights of Minnesotans to live with safety, dignity, and respect. No exceptions. pic.twitter.com/oXLnKWeixL

But Brewer strongly disagrees with this line of thinking.
“The state has veered so far off course that it’s doing the exact opposite of what it once stood for,” he said to Fox News. “It used to be a national leader on Title IX and women’s rights. Now, it’s destroying women’s sports, degrading women and promoting situations where men are physically dominating women.”
“It’s heartbreaking for any former Gopher, any former Viking, any professional athlete who’s lived in that great city. It’s embarrassing. It’s shocking. And, to be honest, it’s just devastating,” he continued.
Especially for the girls who’re being sidelined and beaten to a pulp by boys.
“In any sport — especially something like softball — people can get seriously hurt,” Brewer noted to Fox News. “A man hits the ball harder. A man throws the ball faster. So, the idea of allowing men to compete in women’s softball — especially now, when that sport has grown in visibility and opportunity — is insane.”
“Women’s softball is one of the fastest-growing sports in America. If every high school varsity baseball player decided to go play Division I women’s softball, there would be no women left on the field. Anyone who supports that agenda is either ignorant or pushing politics over people,” he added.
Yet, he continued, this is “exactly” what Ellison has been doing.
“They don’t care about the girls,” Brewer maintained. “They care about fundraising and staying in power, and they’re doing it at the expense of young athletes all across America.”
“President Trump understands exactly what’s happening. He said it best. If you put a bunch of MLB players on a women’s softball team, they’d win the championship,” he concluded.
Brewer is a staunch conservative who supports Trump and recently made headlines for his response to the stabbing killing of Texas high school student Austin Metcalf.
