Head of Government Communications Simon Baugh Departing ‘For a New Challenge’
The government’s chief executive of communications of nearly four years Simon Baugh has just announced he is leaving his post for ‘a new challenge’. Baugh posted on his LinkedIn page:
“After more than 10 years in government, including nearly four leading the Government Communication Service, it is time for a new challenge….There has probably never been a more challenging time to work in government. If you had told me before I started that I’d see six Prime Ministers, Brexit, a global pandemic, and a war in Europe, I might never have joined!”
Baugh then reels off a handy list boasting of his achievements as head of government comms including creating the ‘New Media Unit‘ and “combating the threats to democracy from dis and misinformation“. No doubt his next gig won’t be as challenging as defending the Labour government…
