The lead singer of Korean boy band Super Junior declared his love Sunday for Donald Trump while on stage in Los Angeles.
Leeteuk, whose real name is Park Jeong-su, seemingly took advantage of his platform by shouting out his love for a number of American things. Among the many statements he issued in quick succession were, “I love USA,” “I love In-N-Out,” and “I love Five Guys.” The audience laughed at his references to American food chains, but Leeteuk wasn’t finished. He then shouted, “I love Trump!” Leeteuk was off-camera at the time, but seemed to also shout, “I love Elon Musk,” before the clip cut out.
The video clip has been widely circulated online.
It’s unclear if his public shout-out to the president of the U.S. was intended to be comedic or not, but some of the K-Pop band’s fans were upset by the reference, regardless of the intent.
Super Junior members Leeteuk, Yesung, Shindong, Eunhyuk, Donghae and Ryeowook took the stage to perform and paused to greet fans during their time in the spotlight. At one point, Leeteuk playfully called an audience member “Mom” before he went on to list off all the American things he adores, according to the local outlet, Korea JoonAng Daily.
