Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Kentucky, is asking for political donations on social media after he was “threatened” by President Donald Trump on Monday.
It started when Massie spoke out against the “big, beautiful bill” on the grounds that it is not a fiscally responsible move from the Republican Party.
Look:
Monday, on news of the BBB, 30 yr US treasuries rose to 5% and 10 yr US treasuries rose to 4.52%.
That’s the price WE pay to finance the national debt when old notes mature.
We’re approaching $1.5 trillion of annual interest payments… over $4,000 per US citizen per year.

Perspective: the part of the Big Beautiful Bill that renews the TCJA tax cuts will benefit each family on average by $1600, but the policies changed or left in place by the BBB will be obligate each family of 4 to $16,000 of interest payments on behalf of the federal government.

President Donald Trump was asked about Massie’s opposition to his bill, Trump accused the congressman of not understanding how the government works and called him a “grandstander.”
Q: “Thomas Massie said this adds more deficit than Biden did. Do you think he’s correct?”
Trump: “I don’t think Thomas Massie understands government. I think he’s a grandstander. We don’t even talk to him much. He should be voted out of office.” pic.twitter.com/uua8vwzDeW

On Tuesday, Massie shared video of Trump’s remarks with a message asking supporters to contribute to his reelection, including a link where interested parties could do so.
I need your help. For having the audacity to say this bill does NOT repeal the green new deal, but DOES increase the deficit and debt substantially, I was threatened by Trump today. Can you contribute to my reelection at this link? https://t.co/AgJY01IWPL https://t.co/AQQQPbUD0x
