Back in October the government fêted its ‘major revamp’ of the Office for Investment by appointing Poppy Gustafsson. It was briefed at the time that the office, which sits between Downing Street and DBT, would be ‘beefed up’ and merged with other units “to establish a more powerful cross-government investment agency.Neither hide nor hair of that so far…

That revamp seems to have gone nowhere as its official page has published nothing since the “revamp” and there have been almost zero mentions of the office in press reports. Its about page still says “further details on the expanded OfI will be set out in due course.Difficult to announce investments when there are none…
