NJ bar nixes Springsteen cover band after rocker’s anti-Trump rant in Europe

A New Jersey bar has nixed a scheduled gig by a popular Bruce Springsteen tribute band after “The Boss” badmouthed President Donald J. Trump during his European tour.

The two decades old nine-piece band named No Surrender, after one of the iconic rocker’s most famous anthems, was set to play at Riv’s Toms River Hub on May 30 until the geriatric singer’s anti-Trump rant during a concert in Manchester, England which ignited a public feud with the Republican leader.

After Springsteen’s anti-Trump diatribe made headlines, the band’s leader Brad Hobicorn began to receive “concerned text” messages from Tony Rivoli, the bar’s owner, on May 14 he explained to New Jersey Advance Media.

On Sunday, he received a text from Rivoli informing him that the band was being cancelled, saying that it’s “too risky at the moment,” wary of the reaction from the bar’s staunchly conservative customers.

“Unfortunately it’s just too much money I wanted to do the Springsteen tribute for that money in my social media team would have promoted it we would have done well but now because Bruce can’t keep his mouth shut we’re screwed,” Rivoli wrote in the text to Hobicorn which was obtained by New Jersey Advance Media.

“Whenever the national anthem plays, my bar stands and is in total silence, that’s our clientele. Toms River is red and won’t stand for his bullsh*t,” Rivoli said in another text to No Surrender bass player Guy Fleming.

“Unfortunately, the owner contacted us after Bruce made comments that upset him,” Fleming wrote in a Facebook post. “The owner told us he didn’t want us playing in his club. Our response was simple. We understood it was his establishment, and felt terrible he was that upset. We offered to play completely different music.”

“I explained to the owner that he wasn’t hurting Bruce, but he was hurting nine New Jersey musicians he booked to play at his club,” Fleming said, according to NJ Patch.

The cancellation of the gig which was scheduled months ago thanks to Springsteen’s big mouth meant that the members would be deprived of a paycheck as victims of the man who falsely presents himself as the champion of the working class but is now just another one of the exploitative rich pr*cks that he’s made a fortune singing about.

“This is not political for us at all,” Hobicorn said. “We’re just a cover band that’s trying to make some money and people rely on it financially. We’re the ones really getting hurt.”

“I see that Highly Overrated Bruce Springsteen goes to a Foreign Country to speak badly about the President of the United States. Never liked him, never liked his music, or his Radical Left Politics and, importantly, he’s not a talented guy — Just a pushy, obnoxious JERK, who fervently supported Crooked Joe Biden, a mentally incompetent FOOL, and our WORST EVER President, who came close to destroying our Country,” Trump said in a post to Truth Social last week, roasting the Democratic party shill.

“If I wasn’t elected, it would have been GONE by now! Sleepy Joe didn’t have a clue as to what he was doing, but Springsteen is ‘dumb as a rock,’ and couldn’t see what was going on, or could he (which is even worse!)? This dried out ‘prune’ of a rocker (his skin is all atrophied!) ought to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country, that’s just ‘standard fare.’ Then we’ll all see how it goes for him!” Trump said of Springsteen.
