After authorizing a Christian rally in “ANTIFA land,” there was little surprise as to which side Seattle’s mayor tried to demonize.

Akin to the anti-Christian aggression playing out within the state government, the Emerald City proved itself to be more rainbow and Black Bloc than anything else. Such was the case Saturday when the arrest of 23 people for assault and obstruction found Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell (D) siding with Antifa and alphabet activists as they showed up en force to protest a Christian rally.
“Today’s far-right rally was held here for this very reason — to provoke a reaction by promoting beliefs that are inherently opposed to our city’s values, in the heart of Seattle’s most prominent LGBTQ+ neighborhood,” read a statement from Harrell on the event at Cal Anderson Park that featured musical performances and speakers in the same area that, five years earlier, had been permitted by city officials to become the Capital Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ).
“When the humanity of trans people and those who have been historically marginalized is questioned, we triumph by demonstrating our values through our words and peaceful protest — we lose our voice when this is disrupted by violence, chaos, and confusion,” added the mayor who claimed, “Anarchists infiltrated the counter-protestors group and inspired violence.”
Meanwhile, as the Seattle Police Department detailed that 22 were charged with assault and obstruction and booked in the King County Jail while one juvenile was released after being arrested for obstruction as water bottles were thrown at officers and protesters knocked down fencing while insisting, “Keep Your Bibles Off Our Bodies,” the Seattle Police Officers Guild sought to set the mayor straight.
In addition to calling out the soft-on-crime policies in the city that have led to more than 700 officers leaving the city within the past decade, the union challenged the decision to allow the rally in the park to begin with.
“What we are struggling to understand is why was this park chosen and authorized, especially when this park is commonly known as the heart of ANTIFA land. We have no doubt that this city decision, as naïve or deliberate as it was, put police officers in an untenable predicament,” a statement asserted.

As for the “Don’t Mess With Our Kids” rally itself, organizers described the event by saying, “The #DontMessWithOurKids movement stands for the sanctity of human life, the sacrality of biological gender, the importance of the nuclear family, and the right to freedom of speech and religion. Mayday USA events will offer prayer and resources to help post-abortive men and women, trafficking victims, those who desire freedom from same sex attraction, and those who are struggling with sexual and drug addictions throughout their restoration process.”
Her Voice Movement founder Jenny Donnelly, one of the Mayday USA organizers, posted a political cartoon shared by radio host Ari Hoffman depicting Harrell’s remarks directed at Christians as Antifa and Hamas sympathizers wreaked havoc, and captioned the post, “A picture is worth a thousand words. As the organizer of this event, we are looking forward to an apology or resignation from the mayor.”
Similarly, Sheila Kihne called out Harrell’s response to the chaos that descended upon the rally and said, “SHAME on the @seattletimes & @MayorofSeattle … Here are the pictures of #DontMessWithOurKids attendees — mostly young women and moms having fun and worshipping Jesus … Your city needs an exorcism– I hope next time they call out the Catholics to help out.”

The latest anti-Christian posturing from government officials on the West Coast came after Washington Gov. Bob Ferguson (D), a self-styled Catholic, signed a law forcing priests to violate the seal of confession under the guise of protecting children.
Despite arguments to the contrary, the Catholic Church already requires priests to break the seal “in exceptional cases where keeping the secret is bound to cause very grave harm to the one who confided it, to the one who received it or to a third party, and where the very grave harm can be avoided only by divulging the truth,” as detailed by the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Under any circumstances, per the Washington law, the priest would be forced to choose between jail time and excommunication.
Additionally, Ferguson signed legislation prohibiting parents from accessing medical records of their own children collected by government-run schools.
