NY Times hoax factory reports how Trump has ‘profited’ from his presidency

The Gray Lady’s tact toward the Trump administration stood in stark contrast to the Biden administration, particularly where family “profit” was concerned.

Thanks to CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’ Alex Thompson, the American people are more acutely aware than ever of the lengths corporate media will go to push a narrative. As the reality of former President Joe Biden’s “Weekend at Bernie’s” administration became too much to cover for and new concerns over alleged influence peddling came to bear, the New York Times accused President Donald Trump and his family of “breathtaking” levels of “presidential mercantilism.”

Contending that “Outrage Is Muted,” Times chief White House correspondent Peter Baker at once made public office profiting commonplace and demonized the GOP leader over the degree to which the Trump family was allegedly making gains amid a second administration.

“The Trumps are hardly the first presidential family to profit from their time in power, but they have done more to monetize the presidency than anyone who has ever occupied the White House,” wrote the MSNBC analyst on Sunday. “The scale and the scope of the presidential mercantilism has been breathtaking.”

Careful framing of the allegations included Baker stating, “The Trump family and its business partners [emphasis added] have collected $320 million in fees from a new cryptocurrency, brokered overseas real estate deals worth billions of dollars and are opening an exclusive club in Washington called the Executive Branch charging $500,000 apiece to join, all in the past few months alone.”

“Just last week, Qatar handed over a luxury jet meant for Mr. Trump’s use not just in his official capacity but also for his presidential library after he leaves office,” added the correspondent of the gift to the U.S. Air Force. “Experts have valued the plane, formally donated to the Air Force, at $200 million, more than all of the foreign gifts bestowed on all previous American presidents combined.”

Baker also raised an issue that Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff (D) had argued was an “impeachable offense” after the president invited investors to a dinner that included a “VIP White House Tour” for the biggest spenders.

“And Mr. Trump hosted an exclusive dinner at his Virginia club for 220 investors in the $TRUMP cryptocurrency that he started days before taking office in January. Access was openly sold based on how much money they chipped in — not to a campaign account but to a business that benefits Mr. Trump personally,” wrote the correspondent.

Meanwhile, just as the Times had waited two years before confirming the widely-known legitimacy of the Hunter Biden laptop, the newspaper waited until after Biden left office to deign “to take an interest in the former First Son’s corruption” by covering a “previously unpublished June 2016 letter” regarding efforts by Hunter to get “support and guidance” from the U.S. ambassador to Italy in securing a project in Tuscany for the Ukrainian energy firm Burisma.

Responding to the coverage, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told the Times, “The president is abiding by all conflict of interest laws that are applicable to the president. The American public believes it is absurd to insinuate that this president is profiting off of the presidency. This president was incredibly successful before giving it all up to serve our country publicly.”

Likewise, reactions on social media excoriated the seemingly selective reporting that sought, as ever, to portray Trump in the worst light possible.
