Trump shrugs off media smear campaign alleging Elon Musk drug use

President Donald Trump is well-versed in legacy media smear tactics, so it’s no surprise their latest ‘gotcha’ moment fell flat on its face.

The media has turned its attention back to billionaire Elon Musk, and the rumors are as heinous as you can imagine. On Friday, a story published by The New York Times accuses Musk of doing a cocktail of drugs, including ketamine, mushrooms and ecstasy. The report cited anonymous sources that are allegedly close to Musk, and it is being taken as gospel by the people who hate the current administration.

Trump was asked if he was “aware of Elon Musk’s regular drug use,” but the president wasn’t about to play that game.

“No, I wasn’t. I think he’s fantastic. I think Elon is a fantastic guy,” Trump responded.

“Are you troubled by these reports?” the reporter followed up.

“I’m not troubled by anything with Elon. I think he’s fantastic. Did a great job. And, you know, DOGE continues. And by the time it’s finished, we’ll have numbers that’ll knock your socks off. It’s gonna be uh, he did a fantastic job. And he didn’t need it. He didn’t need to do it,” the president said.

White House National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett said he had “never in a million years” seen Musk under the influence of drugs when confronted on the story by CNN.
