Eric Swalwell posts bizarre video of himself eating a taco

Days after President Donald Trump already set the record straight on tariffs, a California congressman continued to try and “make fetch happen” with a cringey taco video.

As the Democratic Party has already established a reputation for staging stunts to garner attention, a recent video from California Rep. Eric Swalwell came amid concerted — and costly — efforts to endear themselves with young men. Instead, what they got was a bumbling show of beta energy in the aftermath of an astroturf attempt to paint the president as a “chicken.”

Posted to his social media account like a Friday night news dump, a videographer entered Swalwell’s office, capturing the alphabet activist rainbow-bordered mirror over the congressman’s shoulder, before focusing on the desk where he awaited his cue with a Taco Bell taco set in front of him.

“Can I help you?” asked Swalwell as the individual filming posited, “What the f*ck is up with Trump always chickening out on tariffs?”

From there, the “bizarre video” featured the lawmaker awkwardly eating the taco before asking, “Need anything else?”

Warning: Language

Relying heavily on the chronically online to simply understand the messaging, no added context was provided to explain how leftists were endeavoring to generate a viral moment by promoting the acronym TACO to mean “Trump always chickens out.”

Meanwhile, the president had already knocked the wind out of the sails of those trying to get TACO trending when he smacked down a CNBC reporter for questioning him about the term credited to The Financial Times’ Robert Armstrong.

“I chicken out. I’ve never heard that. You mean because I reduced China from 145% that I set down to 100, and then down to another number?” responded the president before adding, “And because I gave the European Union a 50% tax tariff, and they called up and they said ‘please lets meet right now, please let’s meet right now,’ and I said okay, I’ll give you until July.”

“And after I did what I did, they said, ‘We’ll meet anytime you want.’ … You call that chickening out?” asked Trump, who brought up investment commitments of $14 trillion. “Six months ago, this country was stone-cold dead. We had a dead country. We had a country that people didn’t think it was going to survive. And you ask a nasty question like that. It’s called negotiation.”

The quantifiable impact of the president’s policies was measured out by the Federal Reserve Bank as economist Stephen Moore relayed the latest figures during an appearance on “The Mark Levin Show” Monday night.

He compared it to the first quarter of 2025, which he remarked could really be considered former President Joe Biden’s last quarter, that had negative 0.2% compared to the “blockbuster” growth during the first two months of the second quarter of 4.6%, along with an inflation rate below 2.5%.

For his part, Swalwell’s effort to slam Trump earned him scorn and humiliation, complete with reminders about public flatulence.
