Megyn Kelly Eviscerates Chris Cuomo After His Laken Riley Immigration Take [WATCH]

Emily Jashinsky, appearing on The Megyn Kelly Show, directly criticized NewsNation anchor Chris Cuomo on Monday following his remarks about the murder of Laken Riley and the broader issue of illegal immigration.

Jashinsky responded to Cuomo’s refusal to alter his political stance in light of the Riley case, calling his position “insane” and saying he could “screw off.”

The discussion stemmed from comments Cuomo made during a NewsNation segment last Thursday.

Despite widespread public support for deporting illegal immigrants with criminal records, Cuomo suggested the politics surrounding the Riley case were not a reason for him to reevaluate his views on either political party.

Jashinsky took issue with that. “He can screw off because it’s absolutely not fake,” she said.

“If you look at the numbers of people who cross into this country with criminal backgrounds that are not just people who have crossed the crime of crossing the country illegally and returning. If you look at people with histories of violent crime who have gotten into this country, there is plenty to sustain significant concern for that broader narrative that there are significant numbers of criminals who have entered our border.”

Jashinsky went on to say the southern border has become an entry point for individuals with violent intent.

“If you talked about the way people who work in law enforcement, it’s sort of obvious that the open borders have been exploited by people who wish to do terror, people who wish to do great harm to the American people,” she added.

“In this case, to say that these are isolated anecdotes is absolutely insane. It’s where you actually can get that number spiraling out of control because it falsely gives people a sense of security that they should not have.”

President Donald Trump made border enforcement a priority during his first term.

Within his first 100 days in office, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced 66,463 arrests of illegal aliens and 65,682 removals.

According to ICE, three in four of those arrested were criminal illegal immigrants, with offenses including assault, drunk driving, and weapons violations.

A March 2024 survey conducted by the Pew Research Center further reinforced public opinion on the matter.

In that study, 97% of respondents said they agreed with deporting illegal immigrants who have committed violent crimes.

Megyn Kelly also criticized Cuomo’s positioning, accusing him of trying to shift his image without changing his views.

“He’s trying to reinvent himself as a more reasonable alternative to what he used to be. He’s the same,” Kelly said.

“He’s just trying to build an audience now with some occasional false moments of understanding the right wing.”

Kelly referenced her 2020 endorsement of Donald Trump in Pennsylvania as part of her critique.

“I stood out there for President Trump and endorsed him the night before the election in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I said Trump was getting hit because he said he would be a protector of women.”

She then contrasted that with what she said was a dismissive response from Cuomo’s side of the political aisle.

“The Chris Cuomos of the world — his side of the aisle — jumped all over Trump, saying he was being somehow sexist in saying that and bringing up his past history with women when it comes to affairs and alleged inappropriate exchanges sexually,” Kelly said.

“I stood up there and said what I believed, which was that he really would be a protector of women. I mentioned Jocelyn Nungaray, the little girl down in Texas, 12 years old, who was sexually assaulted and murdered by illegals. And I mentioned Laken Riley.”

Laken Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student at the University of Georgia, was found murdered in February 2024.

The suspect, Jose Ibarra, is an illegal immigrant.

Riley’s death, along with the murders of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray in Texas and 37-year-old Rachel Morin in Maryland, drew national attention and intensified public debate over border security during President Trump’s second term.

“I’m sick of this guy’s bullshit,” Kelly said.
