A 73-year-old man from California has been indicted on federal charges for allegedly posting multiple threats on social media to assassinate President Donald Trump following the 2024 election, as reported by The New York Post.
The Department of Justice announced the arrest and indictment of Thomas Eugene Streavel of Yucca Valley, located in San Bernardino County.

Streavel was taken into custody on Monday after federal authorities conducted a probe into a series of online threats allegedly made in November 2024. According to the DOJ, the threats were directed at then-President-elect Trump in the weeks following his election victory.

In one Facebook post dated November 6 — one day after Trump declared victory — Streavel allegedly wrote that Trump “is a dead man walking for the time being until a patriot like myself blows his [expletive] brains out in the very near future.”
Federal authorities say Streavel continued to post threats in the days that followed. On November 12, he allegedly posted:
“I am willing to make America great again and blow his [expletive] brains out.”
According to the indictment, Streavel escalated the rhetoric on November 19, writing, “Let me put a bullet right between the ears of your president-elect,” and described that act as his “purpose for living.”

On November 28, he allegedly posted a direct statement of intent, writing:
“My life’s mission is killing the worthless LOSER [expletive] and my mission starts tonight so watch yourself trump, you are a dead [expletive] and I am your assassin.”
On the same day, he also wrote that he was “praying for a successful assassination of your president elect.”
A federal grand jury indicted Streavel on three counts of making threats against a president-elect. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison on each count.
He pleaded not guilty at his Tuesday arraignment and was released on a $10,000 bond. His trial is scheduled to begin on July 28.
United States Attorney for the Central District of California Bill Essayli commented on the case, stating:
“The type of rhetoric and threats made by this defendant are similar to those that led to an attempt on the President’s life last year. There is no place for political violence or threats of violence in the United States.”
