Republican Florida Rep. Byron Donalds laid out on Fox Business Wednesday his vision for how the federal government can address the ongoing immigration crisis.
During an appearance on “The Evening Edit,” Donalds described what he said was the need for comprehensive legislation that would help deport more criminal illegal aliens. Donalds said the solution hinges on passing“the one big beautiful bill,” which he said would empower law enforcement agencies like U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) with the tools and capacity they need to remove illegal immigrants from the country swiftly.
“One of the things that’s happening right now is we have to get the one big beautiful bill through. Tom Homan and Kristi Noem, they need the bed space. They need the capacity in order to do that. And so once that bill gets through, they’ll have all the resources they need to speed up that process of getting criminal illegals out of the United States,” Donalds told host Elizabeth MacDonald.
Conservative fiscal hawks in the Senate warn that President Donald Trump’s “one big, beautiful bill” may fail unless the GOP agrees to deeper spending cuts. With a critical four-week window to pass the president’s tax and spending proposal before the July 4 deadline, deficit-focused Senate Republicans are pushing GOP leadership to secure more substantial spending reductions than the $1.6 trillion agreed upon by House Republicans.
Donalds then highlighted the significant progress made under President Donalds Trump’s administration, particularly in securing the southern border.

“When it comes to what the number one thing that the president did when he came into office, he shut down a southern border. That’s why illegal border crosses border crossings have fallen off a cliff after Donald Trump became president of the United States,” Donalds added. “Fentanyl trafficking fallen off a cliff when Donald Trump became president of the United States. Now, we have to get them the resources to send these criminal illegals home.”
Federal law enforcement officers, including ICE and FBI agents, raided the Las Cuatro Milpas taco restaurant in Minneapolis on Tuesday, sparking protests from immigrant rights activists and local residents. In response to concerns about the incident, Donalds didn’t hesitate to condemn the actions of those involved. “Everybody who was involved in that needs to be arrested. They need to be tried in the court of law. But this is what happens when you let woke ideology run your state, like in the case of Minnesota. I can assure you, something like this is not going to happen in Florida,” Donalds said. “Governor DeSantis has laid that mantle that we’re going to respect law enforcement in our state. And then if I’m successful, we’re going to continue that mantle of making sure that law enforcement is respected in our state.”
Donalds said that the criticism from the left, which claims law enforcement is targeting all immigrants, is misplaced.
“Just because law enforcement is doing their job, the left automatically thinks we’re going after all immigrants. And that is simply not true. It’s a fallacy. It’s wrong. Law will be respected in the United States,” Donalds said. “It needs to be respected if we’re going to have safe streets and safe communities.”
Since returning to the White House, President Trump immediately took action to reduce illegal immigration along the U.S.-Mexico border through executive orders and strengthened interior enforcement with ICE arrests and deportations.
