Lovesick Maniac Storms Mar-a-Lago in Attempt to Propose to Trump’s Granddaughter Kai

A 23-year-old man from Texas was arrested early Tuesday morning after climbing over the perimeter wall at President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Florida.

Authorities say the man, identified as Anthony Thomas Reyes, told law enforcement he was attempting to propose marriage to Trump’s granddaughter and discuss religious matters.

According to a report by Palm Beach Police, Reyes scaled the property’s wall shortly after midnight and was quickly confronted by U.S. Secret Service agents stationed at the private estate.

He was subsequently taken into custody and charged with trespassing. At the time of the incident, President Trump was in Washington, D.C., and his 18-year-old granddaughter, Kai Trump, was not present at the residence.

She was reportedly on vacation in the Bahamas.

Reyes told police that he had traveled to Mar-a-Lago with the intent to find Kai, who turned 18 in May.

He also claimed that he wanted to speak with President Trump about spreading “the gospel.”

Law enforcement noted that this was not Reyes’ first attempt to breach the security of the Mar-a-Lago estate.

He had previously been issued a warning on December 31, 2024, after attempting to access the property during a time when President Trump was on site.

Reyes is currently being held at Palm Beach County Jail on a $50,000 bond. Court records show he has pleaded not guilty to the trespassing charge.

Kai Trump is the daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and a student in North Palm Beach.

Known for her strong presence on the campaign trail during President Trump’s 2024 re-election run, Kai has built a following online through behind-the-scenes posts and personal vlogs.

While her public activity has lessened since her grandfather returned to office, she recently shared a video on YouTube documenting her vacation in the Bahamas.

The video, posted three days prior to the Mar-a-Lago incident, includes scenes of Kai with friends and family, as well as moments spent golfing and relaxing poolside.

During the vacation, she was seen dining with her mother, Vanessa Trump, and enjoying time at a golf course in Albany.

In the video, Kai described practicing her swing and enjoying the atmosphere, saying, “I’m gonna hit some balls because why not. Worked on my swing a little. It’s beautiful.”

Kai has committed to attend the University of Miami in the fall.

A passionate golfer, she has previously appeared in videos with President Trump discussing her future in the sport.

In one vlog, the president praised her ability, saying, “She’s a scratch player, which is amazing. I think some day in the not-too-distant future she’s gonna be much better than scratch.”

Trump added with a smile, “And some day she’ll be able to beat her grandfather, but I’m not sure when that’ll be… it might be a long time!”

Kai’s social media posts frequently receive support from followers who express admiration for her and send messages for President Trump.

Her YouTube channel and Instagram account often highlight her close relationship with her grandfather and her growing athletic achievements.

Authorities have not released further information regarding the status of the investigation into Reyes’ attempted trespass or whether additional charges may be considered.
