Fans are in for a dose of nostalgic fun after Josh Greenbaum was picked to direct an upcoming “Care Bears” movie.
The film is in early development by Warner Bros. and will include producers Chris Bender and Jake Weiner for Good Fear and Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley for GoldDay, according to Deadline. Sean Gorman and Daniel Barnes are pegged as co-producers, and Sheila Walcott will oversee the feature for the studio. The Care Bears emerged in the 1980s as snuggly, colorful teddy bears from the land of Care-a-lot that teach lessons about positive emotions such as friendship and kindness while portraying their personalities with distinct images on their bellies.

The Care Bears franchise began as characters on greeting cards before they became toys. They then took over television screens across the globe with their own series. The ever-positive bears were soon featured in the 1985 animated film “The Care Bears Movie,” featuring the voice of Mickey Rooney.
Elena Kucharik and Linda Denham are the creators of the Care Bears, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Cloudco Entertainment, previously called American Greetings Entertainment, hold the rights to the franchise. They developed the animated series “Care Bears: Unlock the Magic.”
The friendly bears have returned to the screen before, with successive versions of the Care Bears TV show appearing in the 2000s, 2010s, and lastly with 2019’s “Care Bears: Unlock the Magic,” according to Deadline.
