‘Sandlot’ Star Reprises ‘The Great Hambino’ With Savannah Bananas in Anaheim, California [WATCH]

Actor Patrick Renna, known for his role as Hamilton “Ham” Porter in the 1993 baseball film The Sandlot, made a special appearance Saturday night with the Savannah Bananas during the team’s west coast stop at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California.

As Yahoo Sports reported, the event was part of the Bananas’ ongoing World Tour.

Renna stepped up to the plate for a cameo at-bat and delivered a moment straight out of the film.

Mimicking his character’s iconic confidence, he pointed to the outfield to call his shot.

Although he didn’t knock the ball out of the park, the crowd erupted in cheers as the nostalgic moment played out on the field.

Renna faced off against a pitcher from the Firefighters, an opposing team within the Banana Ball League. After a swing and a miss, followed by a foul ball, Renna popped out to second base.

True to character, he shouted toward the pitcher, “Come on DeNunez, you call that the heater?”—a direct reference to a line from The Sandlot.

The crowd gave Renna a loud ovation as he entered and exited the field, with fans of all ages showing appreciation for the surprise appearance.

The Savannah Bananas have gained national popularity for their unique twist on baseball, which combines fast-paced play with entertainment elements, including choreographed dances, mid-game stunts, and heavy fan interaction.

The team routinely sells out stadiums across the country, including Major League Baseball venues and even college and NFL stadiums.

In addition to Renna’s appearance, Saturday’s game included another crossover moment, as characters from Disneyland—including Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and Goofy—took the field during play to participate in a dance performance alongside the team.

The Savannah Bananas have a full schedule ahead, with sold-out stops through July. Upcoming events include games at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, as well as appearances in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The Bananas will return to their home stadium in Savannah, Georgia, from June 19 to 21, before continuing their tour to Richmond, Virginia; Louisville, Kentucky; and Nationals Park in Washington, D.C.
