Reeves Blamed For More Than Half Of British Businesses Slashing Jobs
More than half of British business owners (53%) say they have already or are planning to slash jobs due to Reeves’ national insurance hikes, according to a fresh S&W’s Business Owners Sentiment Survey. The firm surveyed 500 business owners and also found:
- 51% have already or will freeze pay.
- 59% are planning to cut hours.
- 59% are looking to automation to replace staff.
More than four in ten (41%) UK business owners say they have fast-tracked their exit strategies over the last year thanks to cuts to business property relief, while one in five also said Rayner’s Employment Rights Bill could hurt them. The survey notes: “The current government has talked a lot about growth but the lack of policies to promote it has left some businesses feeling deterred.” Meanwhile ministers are busy rolling the pitch for further business-bashing tax hikes in the budget…
