Law Enforcement Identifies Human Remains Near Taylor Swift’s Rhode Island Mansion [WATCH]

Authorities in Rhode Island have identified human remains found near pop singer Taylor Swift’s beachfront property, concluding an investigation that gained widespread attention due to online speculation about a possible serial killer operating in New England, as reported by The New York Post.

The remains, discovered on May 14 along the shoreline in the Watch Hill neighborhood of Westerly, Rhode Island, have been confirmed as belonging to Eric Wein, 31, of Massachusetts.

The identification was made by the South Kingstown Police Department, which had previously received a missing persons report for Wein on April 18.

According to police, Wein’s vehicle had been located in South Kingstown on April 10, eight days before he was officially reported missing. After identifying the remains, investigators determined that no foul play was involved in Wein’s death and formally closed the case.

“We extend our deepest condolences to Mr. Wein’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” the South Kingstown Police Department said in a public statement.

The location where the body was found—Watch Hill in Westerly—is notable for being home to a mansion owned by Taylor Swift. The property is located just down the beach from where the remains surfaced.

The case drew increased public interest in part due to ongoing speculation on social media regarding a potential serial killer in the New England region. Since March, a total of 13 bodies have been discovered across Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut.

The victims ranged in age from 25 to 44 and were of varying genders.

Despite the growing speculation online, local law enforcement has repeatedly denied any confirmed connection between the deaths.

In May, Westerly Police Chief Paul Gingerella addressed concerns directly, stating that the remains found near Swift’s home were not linked to a serial killer.

“As far as I’m concerned, as far as right now, this has nothing to do with any serial killer [or] any New England murderer,” Gingerella told Fox News Digital.

One of the victims previously identified, Michele Romano, was found in Foster, Rhode Island, in March. Her family issued a public statement disputing any connection to serial killer rumors, saying, “We know that Michele’s passing is in no way related to any type of serial killer.”

Chief Gingerella also commented on the role of online speculation in driving public fear, attributing much of the serial killer narrative to misinformation spread through social media platforms.

While acknowledging the concerns, he added that social media continues to have both positive and negative impacts on public communication.
