President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday the installation of two new flagpoles on the North and South Lawns of the White House, a project he says he’s been planning for years.

Trump stated the project will cost approximately $100,000 and confirmed that he is personally paying for it as a gift to the country.
The flagpoles, which are being installed directly into the lawn, represent a longstanding idea the president said he had during his first term in office.
“I’ve always wondered why the White House didn’t have a flagpole from the grass,” Trump told reporters.
The installation marks the first time such structures have been added to the White House grounds in this way.

Trump came outside to greet the workers on site, one of whom thanked him directly for “bringing America back again.”
During the visit, Trump spoke briefly with the press, joking about the nature of the event and referencing White House photographer Doug Mills, saying Mills might win another prize for photographs of the occasion.
He also made a lighthearted remark that the event might be called a “lifting” or another word “starting with an E.”
TRUMP: “Let’s have a good — they call it a lifting. They also use another word but I’m not gonna use that word. It starts with an “E”. Do you know what the word is? If I ever used it I would be run out of town. Alright. So enjoy it.”🤣 pic.twitter.com/o6lTVoQNaw

While commenting on the flagpole installation, Trump also took the opportunity to criticize Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, taking aim at the Fed for not lowering interest rates amid current economic conditions.

The conversation quickly turned to international matters, particularly the ongoing tensions with Iran.
A reporter asked Trump whether the United States was moving closer to a military strike on Iran.
Trump responded dismissively, mocking the question and the idea that he would telegraph any such plans. “You don’t seriously think I’m going to answer that question?” he said, adding that Iran “was in trouble.”
🚨 LMAO! President Trump just clowned on a “reporter” for asking for specifics about a potential US strike on Iran

When asked if negotiations with Iran were still possible or if it was too late for diplomacy, Trump responded, “Nothing is too late.”

He was also asked what message he had for Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who recently declared that Iran would not surrender.
Trump’s response was brief: “I say, ‘Good luck.’”
He did not elaborate further.

When reporters followed up on the flagpole project and why it hadn’t been implemented during his first term, Trump pointed to the pressures he faced while in office.
“I had the idea a long time ago, but you guys were after me,” he said, referencing his battles with the media and political opponents during his previous administration.
“I was the hunted—now I’m the hunter,” Trump added.
“Big difference.”

The flagpole installations are expected to be completed in the coming days.
According to the president, the additions will serve as a permanent symbol of the American flag displayed prominently from both the North and South Lawns.
The event marks a mix of domestic symbolism and broader geopolitical messaging from the White House.
While overseeing a project meant to highlight national pride, Trump also used the moment to reiterate his administration’s stance on global adversaries, economic policy, and the role of the media in shaping public discourse.
