‘This Is Some Bulls***:’ Social Media Explodes Over Popular Grocery Store Chain’s Juneteenth Cakes

Social media accounts slammed Kroger, a prominent grocery chain, after a video claiming its Juneteenth cakes “lack creativity” went viral.

The video, reportedly recorded at a Kroger location in Atlanta, Georgia, was created by a TikTok user. Footage captured multiple cakes honoring Juneteenth, which commemorates the anniversary of Union General Gordon Granger arriving in Galveston, Texas, in 1865 and proclaiming that the slaves were freed under the Emancipation Proclamation.

“This is some bulls—,” the user claimed. “Who the hell made this ugly a– s—?”

“This is a mockery!” she wrote after claiming that other items were “cute” compared to the Juneteenth options. “Why even bother if you’re going to lack creativity?” (RELATED: North Carolina GOP Gives Democrats Juneteenth Surprise)

Other users were frustrated by the cakes in the video. “You should’ve just flipped the table over,” one allegedly wrote.

“ATP fire the whole bakery cuz that’s deliberate,” another allegedly posted.

“It was the baker’s last day,” a third joked.

Another account also issued a video response, according to Newsweek. “This is a beautiful find of just absolute laziness. Absolute laziness. To be honest, you could have did absolutely nothing and the people would have been just as fine. Cause just slapping s*** to make a buck is like, come on now. It’s very tone deaf, Kroger, and I’m very disappointed,” the user said.

Kroger issued a statement to the outlet in response to the criticism. “The cakes and cookies that were featured in the video were inconsistent with our provided guidance and not of the quality we would expect to see from our stores. The products have been removed, and we’ve addressed this directly with the store teams and the customer who took the initial video,” a company spokesperson said.

Despite the removal, the original user expressed frustration amid a subsequent visit. “Still feel some type of way that they didn’t replace it with better Juneteenth cakes,” she said in another video.
