Former first lady Michelle Obama has admitted that she’s “so glad” she never gave birth to a son because he’d have been a clone of her husband.
She made the strange admission this week on her podcast, “IMO,” that she shares with her lookalike brother, Craig Robinson.
The two were at the time speaking with New York radio host Angie Martinez about the difficulties of raising a son “in a volatile culture filled with bad examples of masculinity.”
At one point, Martinez suggested Obama should have had a boy, in addition to the two daughters she already has.
Listen:
“You should’ve threw a boy in the mix,” she said.
“I’m so glad I didn’t have a boy,” Obama promptly replied.
When asked why, Obama seemed to aim fire at her husband, former President Barack Obama.
“Because he would’ve been a Barack Obama,” she said, suggesting the baby boy would have been a veritable clone of his father.
But Martinez was thrilled by the prospect, telling Obama that a baby Barack “would’ve been amazing.”
Obama did not concur.
“I would’ve felt for him,” she said.
Her brother then jumped in to say that she and her husband had borrowed his and his wife’s sons.
“She just borrowed our boys,” he said.
“Oh, yes, I got plenty — I got plenty,” Obama then said.
Her peculiar remarks have attracted lots of attention on social media, where critics have expressed shock at how easy Obama finds it to essentially diss her husband in public:
This woman is shameless in how she puts down her husband—some things really don’t need to be said publicly

Michelle Obama is glad she didn’t have a son because her son would have turned out like her husband, Barack Obama. That’s incredibly insulting to her husband. Geeze. ☠️

If only Barack Obama wasn’t an Ivy League graduate, a senator, and president of the United States
Such a terrible role model for their non-existent son

You would’ve thought the man was a sanitation worker and not the former president of the US. It may seem like a small joke but it’s showing a significant side of her. She doesn’t respect him like that. She’s always making back handed compliments and wisecracks

Back in 2007 We learned this unbelievably privileged yet selfish and benighted women hadn’t been proud of the country that gave her so very much.
Why would anyone think she would respect the man who took her to the Whitehouse and a multimillion dollar lifestyle?

In fairness to Obama, she did praise her husband during a separate “IMO” episode last week featuring leftist rock star Bruce Springsteen.
“I think Barack is just like you as a tremendous father, doing it in a lot of grandeur, right,” she said.

Also, Obama and her husband have been on several recent dates.
“[T]he Obamas went on a high-visibility date in Midtown Manhattan at the swanky Lowell Hotel restaurant last month and were seen cozying up on another restaurant date in Washington, DC, in April,” according to the New York Post.
Dovetailing back to this week’s podcast episode, Obama at one point talked about how much she’d loved raising her two daughters.
“I’ve loved every phase of parenting: I loved them when they were little babies, I loved them when they were walking and starting to talk, the teenage years were interesting in the White House,” she said.
“But I’ve loved every time with them—and watching them become their own people and make their own choices, and figure stuff out, and call me after they figure stuff out,” she added.
All this comes about a month and a half after Obama announced that she was “now in therapy” because she was “transitioning.”
“At this phase of my life, I’m in therapy right now because I’m transitioning, you know,” she said at the time. “I’m 60 years old, I finished a really hard thing in my life with my family intact. I’m an empty nester — my girls are in, you know, they’ve been launched and now for the first time, as I’ve said before, every choice that I’m making is completely mine.”
