GOP lawmaker likens Muslim NYC mayoral hopeful to the ayatollahs and left goes berserk

Leftists went berserk after a Republican House lawmaker shared his observation about the upcoming New York City mayoral primary and a far-left Muslim candidate who has a decent shot at winning.

In a post to X that triggered defenders of Zohran Mamdani, Rep. Randy Fine (R-Fla.) likened the Ugandan-born socialist to the Iranian ayatollahs and predicted that if he becomes Gotham’s next mayor, the 33-year-old would radically change the deep blue metropolis in a way that the radical clerics did to the Iranian capital.

“Zohran Mamdani would do to New York City what Khomeini and Khamenei did to Tehran,” Fine wrote. “We cannot let radical Muslims turn America into a Shiite caliphate.”

Described by the New York Post as a “uniquely awful menace, an utter guarantee of disaster for New York,” the 33-year-old Mamdani has been rapidly closing ground on the state’s disgraced former governor Andrew Cuomo in recent polls ahead of Tuesday’s ranked choice primary and has scored the coveted endorsements of the nation’s two most high profile socialists, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) which could push him over the top.

Nicknamed “The Hebrew Hammer,” the Jewish congressman may be new to Washington, D.C., but is already well on his way to being a legend with his savage takes that have rattled the cages of leftists, and his warning about Mamdani had them gnashing their teeth in rage.

“Zohran Mamdani had a bomb threat made against him today,” said former Ohio senator Nina Turner, Sanders’ 2020 national campaign co-chair, “there was an assassination of a Democratic lawmaker not even a week ago, and now a GOP congressman is saying this.”

Others resorted to the usual name-calling, accusing Fine of being a racist and an Islamophobe.

Rep. Fine previously detonated leftists when he called bomb-throwing Hamas shill Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) a terrorist, as well as for his support of Israel’s operation to eliminate the terrorist presence from Gaza.

Mamdani has yet to express a desire to turn New York City into an Iranian theocracy but he has pledged to implement communist-style solutions, including city-owned grocery stores, 200,000 units of affordable housing and other freebies that could make him a tempting choice for voters who have already elected some of the most radically left-wing Democrats in the country.
