Starmer Skips PMQs Yet Again as Absences Rack Up

Keir Starmer has ducked PMQs again – his fourth no-show since he got the keys to Downing Street last July. Last week, he ditched the Commons as Baroness Casey’s rape gang review landed. This week, he’s left Angela Rayner to face the music over the growing mutiny on his welfare reforms bill.  Guido crunched the numbers on how many sessions other Prime Ministers skipped in their first year at No.10:

  • Tony Blair: 1
  • Tony Blair (second term): 3
  • Gordon Brown: 1
  • David Cameron: 3
  • Theresa May: 2
  • Boris Johnson: 3
  • Rishi Sunak: 6

Starmer’s racked up more absences than almost anyone – four times as many as Blair managed after his 1997 landslide. Only Sunak skipped more, though Guido suspects Starmer’s keen to catch up. Never-here-Keir…
