Pride Month is going out with a bang, and one LGBT rights activist is reminding people what the movement’s purpose is.
Children are among the most vulnerable people in the world. There is a laundry list of things kids are not allowed to do simply because they cannot give informed consent, such as enlist for war, drink alcohol, smoke marijuana and get married. But for some reason, the idea of informed consent goes out the window when the LGBT community gets involved.
Responding to a post on the radicalization of the gay rights movement, activist Zinnia Jones said the not-so-quiet part out loud:
“In the gay rights movement, there had always been an unspoken golden rule: Leave children out of it.”
Uh, we never agreed to that. Queer and trans kids are the LGBTQ community’s children, much more than they belong to their assigned families, given how those families treat them https://t.co/EZa5bENzug

“‘In the gay rights movement, there had always been an unspoken golden rule: Leave children out of it.’ Uh, we never agreed to that. Queer and trans kids are the LGBTQ community’s children, much more than they belong to their assigned families, given how those families treat them,” Jones wrote.
Bizarre use of “assigned families” aside, Jones wasn’t done there.
“You can bring up your children however you like, we promised. We will leave you alone. We will leave your children alone.”
“you”? “your children”? As if children are just a ciis heterosexual thing?

“Queer and trans adults come from somewhere: queer and trans kids. Treat them well or you don’t get to keep them as part of your family. ‘You can bring up your children however you like, we promised. We will leave you alone. We will leave your children alone,’” the thread continues. “‘[Y]ou’? ‘your children’? As if children are just a ciis heterosexual thing?”
Why would I ever accept Sullivan’s framing that “children” as a broadly construed concept are something that ciisgender heterosexuals get to claim sole proprietorship of, and the LGBTQ community doesn’t get to have anything to do with this? Unreal nonsense

“The fact that queer and trans kids already exist makes it inherent that the LGBTQ community is not leaving ‘their children’ ‘alone’. It shows that this idea of being left ‘alone’, as a presumed ciis heterosexual, was a false assumption. And it shows these are not ‘their children,’” Jones adds. “Why would I ever accept Sullivan’s framing that ‘children’ as a broadly construed concept are something that ciisgender heterosexuals get to claim sole proprietorship of, and the LGBTQ community doesn’t get to have anything to do with this? Unreal nonsense.”
“Grooming” only recently became overloaded with its blood libel meaning against queer and trans people, an accusation that our open support for LGBTQ kids is somehow just inherently bad. You can groom people as your successors. You can groom people for style or personal care.
— Zinnia Jones, bsky @zinniajones.com (@ZJemptv) June 27, 2025
“‘We knew very well that any overreach there could provoke the most ancient blood libel against us: that we groom and abuse kids.’ When recognizing and supporting LGBTQ kids is slurred as ‘grooming’, we still have to recognize and support LGBTQ kids. ‘Grooming’ only recently became overloaded with its blood libel meaning against queer and trans people, an accusation that our open support for LGBTQ kids is somehow just inherently bad. You can groom people as your successors. You can groom people for style or personal care.”
But Jones still wasn’t done.
The thread continued, accusing straight parents of wanting to protect their children from grooming, which Jones says isn’t taking place within the LGBT community. Jones also repeatedly uses the term “blood libel,” which is described as “an accusation that Jewish people used the blood of Christians in religious rituals, especially in the preparation of Passover bread, that was perpetrated throughout the Middle Ages and (sporadically) until the early 20th century.”
X users had a lot to say:
This is not just a vile remark, but calculated to bring the gay rights movement further into disrepute. Please make it clear that you are a TQ+ activist – not LGB.

Well we’re here to tell you to stay away from kids entirely and we aren’t asking.

You do a really great job making yourself and your “community” look as creepy, mentally ill, and predatory as possible. It’s almost like you want people to have an issue with you.

The first tactic of paedophiles is to drive a wedge between a child and their family. Making them more vulnerable to predatory adults.
Claiming that a child’s family is “assigned” and thus the child is up for grabs, is a whole new level of predation.
Wind your neck in.
