House Democrats overwhelmingly opposed a bill to deport illegal aliens who have been convicted of drunk driving, sticking with their trend of championing the lawless, especially when it comes to foreign offenders.
On Thursday, 160 Democrat lawmakers refused to vote for H.R. 875, titled “The Jeremy and Angel Seay and Sergeant Brandon Mendoza Protect Our Communities from DUIs Act,” in a shameless display of why the left-wing party was strongly rejected by America in last year’s election, losing control of the White House and the Senate and failing to retake the House.
The legislation, which is named for victims who lost their lives to illegal alien drunk drivers, passed by a vote of 246 to 160, with more than 3 dozen Democrats crossing party lines to do the right thing.

The bill was introduced by Rep. Barry Moore (R-Ala.), who hailed its passage.
“Today’s vote in the House sends a clear message: if you are a guest in this country, and you break our laws and put American lives at risk by driving under the influence, there will be consequences,” he said, according to Fox News.
Newlyweds Jeremy and Angel Seay, two of the bill’s namesakes, are from the congressman’s own hometown of Enterprise, Alabama. They were killed in 2009 when a liquored-up illegal alien plowed into their motorcycle with his pick-up truck. Arizona police officer Brandon Mendoza was killed in 2014 by a drunken illegal immigrant who was driving in the wrong lane and collided with him head-on.

“It just shows that if it comes to anything about holding illegal immigrants accountable, even if it’s killing our own people in drunk driving cases, they’re against any kind of reforms on immigration,” Moore said of the Democrats who refused to vote for the bill.
One of the Democrats, Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), scoffed at the bill as “just another page from the majority’s tired old playbook of inventing perceived gaps in the law and providing overly broad legislation to fix them.”
“Let me be clear. No one here wants to see individuals who are true threats to public safety eligible for immigration benefits,” the New York City Democrat said. “However, our immigration laws already exclude public safety threats from being able to get visas or legally remain in the country. Under our current laws, this includes those who have committed serious DUI offenses.”
“I participated in the judiciary hearings that led to this bill being sent to the floor, and I carefully reviewed the majority report. There’s absolutely no evidence in that hearing or report showing a causal connection between immigration status and drunk driving,” said Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon (D-Pa.) when the House Rules Committee debated the resolution this week, according to Fox News.
Among those voting against the bill was House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), who has consistently opposed efforts to deport and otherwise hold criminal illegal aliens accountable, as have all but a small handful of Democrats.
