Dr. Phil Obliterates Ilhan Omar for Anti-American Rhetoric, ‘Absolutely Disgusting’ [WATCH]

Television host Dr. Phil McGraw sharply criticized Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) for recent comments in which she labeled the United States as one of the “worst countries,” calling her remarks “absolutely disgusting.”

McGraw’s comments were made Monday in response to an interview Omar gave last month where she condemned a military parade held on Flag Day, as reported by The New York Post.

“Here’s the thing: she has the right to say what she’s saying culturally, psychologically, I think it’s disgusting, but does she have the right to say it? Yeah, she does, just like I have the right to say, ‘It’s absolutely disgusting and whoever voted for her now knows who they voted for and should kick her a– to the curb.’”

Omar, who immigrated to the United States from Somalia and was later elected to Congress, had spoken to Democracy Now! in June.

In the interview, she said, “I grew up in a dictatorship and I don’t even remember ever witnessing anything like that to have a democracy, a beacon of hope for the world to now be turned into one of the, you know, one of the worst countries, where the military are in our streets without any regard for people’s constitutional rights.”

Her comments were aimed at a military parade on June 14—Flag Day, the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army, and President Donald Trump’s 79th birthday.

Omar criticized the event, saying, “Our president is spending millions of dollars [propping] himself up like a failed dictator with a military parade.” She added, “This is not the country we were born in… this is not the country our Founding Fathers imagined.”

Dr. Phil said the pattern of statements from Omar shows a consistent lack of gratitude for what the U.S. has offered her. “Most shocking, instead of gratitude for America, she has the unmitigated gall to just spew nothing but unwavering disdain, and this isn’t new,” he said.

He cited previous remarks Omar has made, including a 2019 statement that “this is not going to be the country of White people,” and a 2020 comment calling for the dismantling of what she described as a system of oppression.

“So oppressive,” Dr. Phil noted, “that she came here as a refugee, got all of these entitlements, and was elected to Congress.”

Dr. Phil also criticized Omar’s 2021 comparison of the United States and Israel to terrorist groups.

“In June 2021, she compared the US and Israel to Hamas and the Taliban, saying, ‘We have seen unthinkable atrocities committed by the US, Hamas, Israel, Afghanistan and the Taliban.’ Really, she puts the US on that list. That’s crazy talk,” he said.

He questioned why Omar would continue living in the U.S. if she believes it is such a terrible country. “If this is such a horrible country, wonder why she doesn’t return to Somalia,” Dr. Phil said.

“Well, maybe because Somalia isn’t the most corrupt country in the world, it’s the second most corrupt country in the world.”

Dr. Phil cited June 2022 reports highlighting that 99.2% of Somali women aged 15 to 49 had undergone female genital mutilation.

He also noted the presence of child soldiers, tribal violence, low life expectancy, low adult literacy, and persecution of religious minorities and LGBTQ individuals in Somalia. “But in America,” he said, “she rose from refugee to congresswoman.”
