ROOKE: America’s Largest Teachers Union Issues Torrent Of New Wackadoodle Anti-Trump Policies

While the state of the U.S. education system continues to deteriorate, with American students struggling to read, write, and perform mathematics at grade level, the nation’s largest teachers’ union has passed a resolution opposing President Donald Trump.

School choice activist Corey DeAngelis released the National Education Association’s (NEA) resolutions passed at their annual convention. These were reportedly kept hidden from the public, likely because they exposed the failure of the union to understand that their fight against Trump is hurting American students.

In a thread on X, DeAngelis posted some of the more egregious items that have now been added to their organization, like New Business Item 60. This adopted business item pledges to “defend democracy against Trump’s embrace of fascism by using the term fa[s]cism in NEA materials to correctly characterize Donald Trump’s program and actions.”

The item continued by claiming that their actions to falsely identify Trump as a fascist somehow increase the chance of “the survival of civilization.” The NEA will incur a cost of $3,500 to implement this change. (Sign up for Mary Rooke’s weekly newsletter here!)

It’s both telling and hilarious that the TEACHERS’ UNION spelled fascism wrong in their resolution. It’s no wonder that American students are failing to achieve basic educational skills when their teachers are clearly struggling as well.

New Business Item 59 continues down the path of insanity lane by claiming that the Trump administration’s fight to define birthright citizenship to exclude women who come to America to have what is colloquially called an “anchor baby,” which allows them a path to citizenship through their child, is an “attempt to revert to pre-civil rights movement –Jim Crow– legal concepts of ‘states rights’ in order to deny citizenship to children of migrants.”

The NEA plans to team up with other unions, immigrant rights organizations, and civil rights organizations to oppose the Trump administration on this issue. It will cost the union almost $35,000.

New Business Item 63 ensures everyone knows (not that we couldn’t have already) that the NEA “opposed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) kidnapping of student leaders and supports students’ right to organize against ICE raids and deportations.” Because nothing says “We are the good guys” like enlisting student soldiers into your activist regime.

It also somehow included their resolve to defend against attacks on “LGBTQ+ students and against racism,” supposedly committed by the Trump administration, despite there being no evidence that this is actually happening. This new mobilization of minor activists will cost the NEA an additional $32,5000.

New Business Item 84 is likely the most detrimental of the lot because it not only opposes the Trump administration but also targets the dismantling of parental rights. NEA used this business item to oppose the new U.S. Supreme Court ruling (Mahmoud v. Taylor), which allows parents to opt their kids out of gender ideology instruction.

The NEA plans to spend a whopping $209,025 to “assist educators in avoiding possible disciplinary action when teaching about LGBTQ+ history, materials, resources, books, etc., while at school/work.” The union plans to hold town hall meetings and member conferences to ensure teachers are still including sex and gender ideology in curriculum and content despite local laws or parents’ wishes.

New Business Item 58 throws just $1,500 towards supporting “the mass democratic movement against Trump’s authoritarianism and violations of human rights.”

“We support the ‘No Kings’ movement and the Los Angeles-based movement (they couldn’t very well say violent riots in their resolution now, could they) to defeat Trump’s attempts to use federal forces against the state of California and other states and communities,” the NEA stated. Because the NEA is a 501(c)(5) federal tax-exempt labor organization, it can engage in lobbying to influence or oppose education policies. Some of the union’s new resolutions come incredibly close to instructing teachers to disregard laws, which could risk their tax status or, at the very least, invite legal scrutiny.

However, it’s not just using its massive organization of teachers to fight back against Trump; it’s also instructing those teachers to take their captive students and turn them into political activists, by “educating” them to ignore and oppose the policies of the president and local government. This is textbook indoctrination. They want left-wing soldiers and are looking at American children as the perfect group to recruit from.

The only answer here is for the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate the NEA for possible violations and hand down disciplinary action. American students are consistently testing below grade level in science, math, and reading. Our education system is failing them, and organizations like the NEA are holding the matches and gasoline while blaming Trump for the blaze.
