Praise of the military came with a different kind of strike on the “corrupt media,” as President Donald Trump suggested, “changes are gonna be made.”
Having assembled his Cabinet on Tuesday for the latest meeting, the president covered a lot of ground, including the tragic flooding in Texas, international peace agreements, and the expected impact of the newly signed One Big Beautiful Bill Act. As topics shifted, the commander-in-chief also made time to slam corporate media, specifically over coverage of the strike on Iran’s nuclear program.
Referencing reactions from the pilots to reports from CNN and the New York Times about Operation Midnight Hammer that struck the Islamist regime’s nuclear facilities, Trump said, “They were a little downbeat because they listened to that fake CNN reporting and the fake New York Times — they worked together to try and say that it wasn’t perfect. They couldn’t say what they missed. All they could say is maybe it wasn’t perfect. And you oughta fire that reporter immediately. You should fire her — real fake. And so I just want to congratulate those pilots. And, you know, a lot of people don’t like bringing things like that up. I do.”

“I always like confronting because otherwise the public doesn’t know that you’re a bunch of crooked people. But they know — they’ve learned — and the media has to straighten out their act,” insisted the president. “You know, the media is down to 17% approval. You got to do a little better than that. It’s important for the country that you do better.”
“I think they ought to make a lot of changes. I think changes are gonna be made to the media. But it’s hard to have a really successful country if you have a corrupt media, and we really have a corrupt media,” he continued.
After the strike in Iran, the President issued a threat of another lawsuit against corporate media after CNN and the Times reported an illegally leaked, top-secret assessment from the Pentagon about Operation Midnight Hammer.
In response to the threat of legal action over reporting on the “low-confidence assessment” that was inconsistent with other intelligence reports about the operation, Times’ lawyer David McCraw said, “No retraction is needed,” and “No apology will be forthcoming.”
“We told the truth to the best of our ability. We will continue to do so,” he insisted while a CNN spokesperson “confirmed that the network had responded to a similar legal threat from the president’s team.”
That followed Trump specifically calling out CNN’s Natasha Bertrand by name, insisting, “She should be IMMEDIATELY reprimanded, and then thrown out ‘like a dog,’” as he asserted that she’d previously “lied on the Laptop from Hell Story.”

Further criticizing the media on Tuesday, the president said, “And nobody really knows why. I mean, why would you want to have open borders and criminals pouring into our country? Why would you want to have men playing in women’s sports, transgender for everyone? You know, you’ll have to figure that out. But some of you don’t. I mean, I’m looking at some people — they love the country. But I look at other people, and they can’t. But we’re really proud of our military.”
