Co-conspirators may recall Labour’s proud announcement last November to unveil a new “public dashboard” tracking the government’s progress on pre-election pledges. Fast-forward eight months, still no dashboards…
No10 briefed to much fanfare that the dashboards would be online for voters within weeks:
“Sir Keir Starmer will next month launch a public dashboard enabling voters to monitor his administration’s progress on a range of new pre-election targets. The prime minister’s upcoming intervention aims to boost “trust and transparency” in the government, according to people briefed on the plans, following a rocky start to his premiership.”
Tory MP Joe Robertson raised the issue in the Commons today, asking when the long-promised tracker might finally appear. Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster Pat McFadden didn’t have an answer. It’s still in ‘development’…
Not that voters really need a dashboard to see how it’s going. Robertson told Guido:
“In their new Plan for Change online tracker the Government should track their u-turns or “Changes to Plan for Change (subject to change)” not only for the public but to help Labour backbenchers know what the Prime Minister’s position is, day to day, hour by hour.”
Starmer’s dashboard is progressing about as well as the rest of his agenda…
