Tucker Carlson says ‘Of course Fox News is anti-Christian,’ but others come to network’s defense

Talk of Tucker Carlson’s termination had the former Fox News host asserting a specific kind of religious bias at the network that others argued was “simply untrue.”

Controversy continues for the commentator who recently raised eyebrows with his interview of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. Only this time, Carlson was the interviewee as he joined Turning Point USA contributor Alex Clark on her “Culture Apothecary” podcast, where he accused his former network of being “really anti-Christian.”

Referring to Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott, who took on the role in 2018 after the then-host had been given the 8:00 p.m. primetime spot, Carlson expressed how his wife’s first reaction to learning his Fox News show had been canceled was, “Thank God!” and, when asked, explained, “She thought they were really anti-Christian.”

“Do you agree?” wondered Clark before the commentator responded, “Oh, of course … It just makes them uncomfortable. They’re not comfortable with that at all. If you said on Fox … ‘Hey, how are the Christians of the West Bank doing? Like, how’s Bethlehem doing?’ Where Jesus was born … Let’s call the rector of the Church of the Nativity and ask him what he thinks of Israeli occupation. Just as a Christian, I think it’s totally fair. Whoa, I mean, you’d be out of there!”

Without naming names, Newsmax host Todd Starnes, formerly of Fox News, took to X in defense of his old network and expressed, “I worked at @FoxNews for nearly 15 years — across all their platforms. I was the most-read columnist on their digital platform for years. And I led the culture war coverage. I can say without a doubt that the accusations being leveled by some social media influencers that Fox News is anti-Christian are simply untrue. During my time at Fox, Suzanne Scott was a fierce defender of religious liberty.”

Likewise, as journalist Laura Loomer admitted, “I can’t stand Fox News,” she gave a rundown of examples of the network’s open displays of Christianity, including prayer and the promotion of Jesus on “Fox and Friends” as well as Bible studies on their streaming services. “The only thing I ever hear @ainsleyearhardt talk about is Christianity. She finds a way to talk about it every day. She is one of the hosts of Fox and Friends.”

Responding to Loomer to similarly negate the argument that Turning Point USA was advancing “Jew bashing,” a commenter stated, “The claims of anti-Christian bias at Fox News seem unfounded, given their open promotion of Christian values and content. Allegations of a coordinated anti-Jewish campaign by TPSUA and Tucker Carlson lack evidence and appear exaggerated.”

Prior to President Donald Trump’s strikes against Iran’s nuclear facilities, Carlson was in a verbal sparring match with Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R) over the administration’s involvement in the Middle East, and heading into the weekend, the commentator also expressed criticism over the focus points of the administration like tackling gender ideology.

“But, I don’t know, it kinda feels like you’re feeding me appetizers. At some point, I want to look around and see a better country. I want to see a country I recognize,” he said before later adding, “But let’s do the real stuff like making New York liveable. And creating an economy where my kids can have kids.”
