EXC: Health and Safety Regulator Spends Over £300,000 a Year on Work From Home Equipment
The UK’s Health and Safety regulator has charged taxpayers almost a million pounds in three years for equipment to let its staff work from home. Commutes can be dangerous…
The Health and Safety Executive is sponsored by the DWP and describes itself as “Britain’s national regulator for workplace health and safety.” It mostly collects statistics and compiles reports such as “means of escape in residential buildings research” which allows bureaucrats to impose extra regulations on new buildings. A written answer in the Commons from the DWP has revealed that the HSE has spent over £300,000 every year on “equipment to enable staff to work from home” to a total of £955,099 since 2022/23. For that cash you could:
- Fill 13,265 potholes.
- Hire 40 British Army privates.
- Buy 796 NHS hospital beds.
That money instead goes to items like ergonomic keyboards and gaming chairs. UK DOGE recommends costs are cut here…
