Joe Rogan urges Texas prog who claims ‘there are 6’ sexes to ‘run for president’

Podcaster Joe Rogan may have supported President Donald Trump in the 2024 election, but a tiger doesn’t change its stripes that easily.

One of the appeals of Rogan’s podcast is his unwillingness to adhere to a specific political ideology. This allows him to host guests from all over the political spectrum, from all walks of life, and from all careers. However, it also means that he’s sometimes going to voice support for some real headscratchers.

Such a scenario played out on Friday when the podcaster heaped praise on Texas state Rep. James Talarico, a progressive who once asserted that there are ‘six’ biological sexes.

“You need to run for president,” urged Rogan, after the pair’s discussion had turned to the topics of Christianity and the lawmaker’s political roots. “We need someone who is actually a good person.”

“Can I actually push back on that?” Talarico, who is currently in seminary school, asked.

“We were talking about how politics has become a religion. This is one of the ways it does. People put all their faith in a politician,” he continued. “I’ve seen it with Bernie [Sanders.] I like Bernie a whole lot, but some people treat him as if he’s a messianic figure. And Trump on the right, people treat him as a messiah in some ways.”

“This is a problem,” the young progressive said.

But while Rogan appeared to take a shine to Talarico, he has previously spoken out on the subject of radical gender ideology.

“When you say there’s 78 words for gender, I can safely say you’re f–king crazy,” he had previously said, putting him at odds with Talarico’s line of thinking on the subject.

In 2021, the lawmaker went viral for suggesting that science supports the theory of more than two biological sexes.

“The bill seems to think there are two [sexes],” he said during the Public Education Committee’s discussion on banning transgender athletes from girls’ sports. “The one thing I want us to all be aware of is that modern science obviously recognizes that there are many more than two biological sexes.”

“In fact, there are six, which honestly, Rep. Hefner, surprised me, too.”

“Talarico explained that there are ‘six really common biological sexes’ based on X and Y chromosomes — not just XX (female) and XY (male), but also single X, XXY, XYY and XXXY,” the New York Post reported at the time.

“The point is that biologically speaking, scientifically speaking, sex is a spectrum, and oftentimes can be very ambiguous,” Talarico added.

During the same episode, Rogan spoke out against the “very creepy” abortion laws in Texas and voiced concern about the state’s treatment of women who experience miscarriages.

“There was also the thing where they were trying to go after women who traveled to other states. And even if there was no evidence– like say if a woman travels to see her in-laws or her parents or something like that, and then has a miscarriage. That to me was very creepy,” he said.

“If this woman had traveled somewhere where abortion is legal and then lost her baby, they would then be accused, even if they had not had an abortion. They would be questioned, and that to me is incredibly insensitive. Especially when you take into consideration that some of these women may not have had abortions at all. They might have just lost the baby, which happens quite often where there are miscarriages.”
