It’s only fitting that Seattle, a bastion of left-wing groupthink, is in the news this week for wanting to cancel the Blue Angels airshow.
The Blue Angels, officially named the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, are an awe-inspiring squadron of the United States Navy that serves as an effective recruitment tool. The squadron has been performing at Seafair, Seattle’s annual summer festival, since 1972, and some leftists are calling for an end to their participation, citing concerns about the impact on health and the environment.
More from the Seattle Times:
“SAY NO TO BLUE ANGELS,” a new billboard says in big letters, unveiled Tuesday afternoon along Rainier Avenue South near Rose Street South. As cars drove by, cowbells rang and people with the Airshow Climate Action coalition hung up signs that read: “Demilitarize Seafair.”
A petition started by a community organizer in Seattle includes 5,000 signatures calling for the end of the Blue Angels show, according to the newspaper.
Breck Lebegue, a doctor for the Air Force for over 30 years, was quoted in the article.
“I realized that fossil fuel is making the Earth heat up too much, and it’s causing harm to the climate, to people’s health and their lives, so I’m doing something about it,” Lebegue said.
Commanding Officer Adam Bryan spoke about “the unique ability to highlight the importance of naval aviation while honoring its historical significance.”
“We proudly represent the heritage, agility, flexibility, and importance of naval aviation to 21st-century warfighting,” Bryan said, according to the Times.
The idea was not so popular online — here’s a quick sampling of responses, as seen on X:
Serious question: are modern progressives the most miserable unhappy sad sacks of shit to have ever lived in this universe?

This is why Seattle can’t have nice things.
It used to be a blue collar town. Now it’s a frilly lace collar town.

The @BlueAngels are one of the purest examples of American exceptionalism, of course the left hates them.

So the city of protestors, crime, and drugged-out homeless smelling of shit, piss, and weed has a problem with the Blue Angels?

But progressives are miserable by nature, no surprise they hate fun.

The noise makes it difficult to focus on jerking off in parks.
