A congressional candidate is the subject of a wild arrest video out of Texas, after being forcibly removed from a hearing.
Isaiah Martin’s attempt to filibuster the redistricting hearing ended in cuffs as he was dragged away from the microphone by a capitol security official.
Watch:
“It is a shame. It is horrific. History will not remember you kindly for what you have done. As a matter of fact, history might not remember you at all,” he shouted as he was being removed.
“America will rise up against you!” he screamed.
This comes after President Donald Trump encouraged states to redistrict in a way that would add more Republicans to Congress, especially in red states that have received a large influx of voters moving away from blue states like New York and California.
Martin is running to replace the late Rep. Sylvester Turner, D-Texas, in the 18th District. Turner passed away on March 5.
The congressional hopeful was booked into the Travis County Jail under charges of criminal trespass, resisting arrest and disrupting a meeting or procession, according to local news outlet KVUE.
On Friday, the charges were dropped and he was expected to be released from jail, according to a social media update from Martin’s brother, who said they were simply trying to make an “example” of Isaiah.
“He shouldn’t have been arrested in the first place,” the brother said.
X users responded to the arrest:
He just couldn’t help himself could he.

The first amendment was respected. He’s in jail. He conducted a major civil disturbance on state house capitol grounds in Texas.

He literally spoke beyond his allotted time and continued to disrupt the session.

He went over his time and refused to stop and caused a disturbance in the state house. He’s lucky he’s not charged with DTP or DC

His message was good. And then he decided to usurp time, at which point he was out of order. I think he probably could have kept his message strong right up to getting his mic cut off. But his STILL refused to stop disrupting proceedings, despite having nothing more to say.

This is so dumb.
There’s a time limit, it’s not difficult to understand for anyone who’s not a child.
What a complete and utter dummy.— Steve P (@R0ger_That_Over) July 26, 2025
