Buckle in.
Here’s but one headline from the week, this one from Newsmax:
Grassley: Declassified Durham Docs Reveal ‘Weaponization’ Against Trump
The story reports:
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, on Thursday released newly declassified sections of a former special counsel’s report that show that the intelligence agencies under former Democrat Presidents Barack Obama and Biden were “weaponized” against President Donald Trump.
The declassified appendix, or annex, to former special counsel John Durham’s 2023 report sheds more light on Hillary Clinton’s campaign efforts to falsely tie Trump to Russia and the FBI’s failure to investigate those efforts, Grassley said in the release.
“Based on the Durham annex, the Obama FBI failed to adequately review and investigate intelligence reports showing the Clinton campaign may have been ginning up the fake Trump-Russia narrative for Clinton’s political gain,” Grassley said in the release.”

Over at Fox was this:
Patel found thousands of sensitive Trump–Russia probe docs inside ‘burn bags’ in secret room at FBI
FBI Director Kash Patel has turned over the documents to Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley
That story reported:
EXCLUSIVE: FBI Director Kash Patel found a trove of sensitive documents related to the origins of the Trump–Russia probe buried in multiple “burn bags” in a secret room inside the bureau, sources told Fox News Digital.
Sources told Fox News Digital that the “burn bag” system is used to destroy documents designated as classified or higher.
Sources told Fox News Digital that multiple burn bags were found and filled with thousands of documents.
And the Daily Caller headlined this of Gabbard’s conclusion of her investigation:
Tulsi Gabbard Releases Evidence Of ‘Years-Long Coup’ On Trump
Full stop right here.
It is more than worth recalling the famous wisdom by Britain’s long-ago statesman Lord Acton in 1857. That would be: “Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely.”
Which is to say, Acton’s wisdom is every bit as accurate and wise as it was when he said it a full 168 years ago.
The blunt, hard truth today is that what’s coming now to light in seriously “with documents” form is that the Obama–Biden era intelligence agencies were in fact engaged in what DNI Tulsi Gabbard has bluntly called a “yearslong coup.” A coup that was targeted at Donald Trump.
Without doubt, the combined investigative force of the Trump–Bondi Department of Justice and House and Senate investigators will finally shed real light on the already starting-to-be-revealed scandal that was behind the Obama–Biden management of U.S. intelligence agencies and their manic obsession with getting Trump.
The real question now will be: What to do when the investigation is complete?
Not to mention that there will be calls to make major decisions about the operation of those government agencies involved in this — and investigation and potential prosecution of all of those involved.
There will doubtless be some who call for abolishing some or all of these agencies. Which will accomplish nothing other than bringing to the fore the realization that the United States needs a serious intelligence capability, however it may be structured and staffed.
As this is written, America faces adversaries in places like Russia, China, North Korea, and in various hostile places in the Middle East. These realities are not going to vanish. Wishing it will not make it so.
Yet clearly something — something! — has to be done. The notion that a collection of players in the world of American intelligence agencies are using their offices to scheme and plot against the elected president in an American democracy is not simply unacceptable. It is dangerous. A decided step toward dictatorship.
So what comes next? It would certainly seem that step one is investigating and finding out in well-documented form what exactly happened. Clearly Donald Trump was the target. But the next time? Long after Trump has left the scene, it cannot be that this is allowed to happen again.
Step two would be what to do about what happened. The American public needs the names of those responsible in what is already being called by Senator Grassley as the biggest political scandal in the history of the United States.
The summer is slowly winding down. In another month, parents will be seeing their kids back to school. A country’s vacation mindset will be turning yet again to work and office hours.
But one suspects the media investigations and headlines into exactly what has gone on in all of this — and how to fix it — will go on, must go on, until that mission is complete.
Stay tuned.
