Cincy mayor vows more charges in brutal black mob beatdown – black pastor blames whitey

Cincinnati’s Democrat mayor held his first news conference since last weekend’s brutal downtown beating of multiple white people by a mob of black thugs, vowing that “every single person involved” in the “brawl” could face criminal charges.

On Friday, Mayor Aftab Pureval was joined by Reverend Damon Lynch and other city officials as he tried to quell the firestorm that has consumed his city after a viral video of the Saturday incident sparked national outrage and calls for accountability.

In the video, a white man is seen as he is chased and then punched multiple times before falling to the ground as more assailants rush in and begin kicking him, as the crowd jeers. The beating went on for almost a minute. A white woman who tried to intervene was then sucker punched by a black female, knocking her out.

The officials took turns speaking during the news conference, where new charges were announced along with additional victims.

“The investigation is ongoing, and I expect that we will have more charges and more arrests as the investigation proceeds,” Pureval said.

“This was an awful incident, and our law enforcement has been working quickly and effectively to bring all responsible to justice,” the mayor said. “Let me be clear, there is no place for violent crime in Cincinnati, whether it’s a fight or gun violence. We will pursue those responsible, and we will hold them accountable no matter who they are.”

“This would not be national news if this was a group of black people that jumped on other black people,” Reverend Lynch said. “But obviously it’s national news because it’s been racialized.”

During his spiel, the pastor claimed to have seen additional footage that would put the incident in a different context, showing that the white people were the aggressors, criticizing the media coverage of the beatings, which he claimed wouldn’t be national news if it had been black on black violence. He also lashed out at Republicans, including Vice President JD Vance, Sen. Bennie Moreno (R-Ohio), and GOP gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.

“So you understand this, two combatants, one black, one white, a black man steps in, breaks it up, the white guy reengages, slaps not the black man that he had just squared up with, but slaps another black man, and nobody’s asking ‘Why didn’t he just walk away?” Lynch said.

“But when I see the mugshots, I only see people who look like me,” he continued. “I don’t see the person who re-engaged, slapped not just the initial person, but slapped another black man, so I don’t see the slapper’s mugshot. And so until we see all the mugshots…”

“They begged for that beat down!” Cincinnati City Councilwoman Victoria Parks proclaimed in a recent Facebook post, expressing her view that the white victims had it coming to them. “I am grateful for the whole story.”

Despite the national uproar, Pureval said that he has not spoken with any of the victims

“I have not,” he said. “I mean, look again, this was a fight. It was a fight, it was a horrific fight, but as a council member and others have said, we have significant other public safety challenges.”

“Cincinnati is a special place. We are a proudly diverse city with a large and vibrant black community that is rich in tradition and history,” the mayor said. “The racial dynamics of this fight are unavoidable, and some have cynically used the opportunity to try and divide us along racial lines. That is a choice we must firmly reject.”
