Bill Maher suggests ladies of ‘The View’ aren’t ‘best advertisement for women’

Daily Caller News Foundation

Comedian Bill Maher suggested on Monday’s episode of his “Club Random” podcast that the all-female co-hosts of “The View” were not an ideal representation of their sex.

Maher appeared on “The View” in May 2024 and took issue with co-hosts Sunny Hostin and Joy Behar’s left-wing politics to their faces. The comedian said on his podcast that he had warm feelings for all of the co-hosts, but that they reflect poorly on their sex and their political party.

“I love Whoopi [Goldberg] and Joy, those are the two I really know. And I did it like a year ago, and I liked everybody,” Maher said. “But like, I don’t know if they’re really, at this moment, the best advertisement for women.”

“They say some things that are just, like, not helpful, like, say, to elections,” he added.

Maher snapped back at Hostin during his appearance as she lectured him over the meaning of the term “woke,” arguing it had been “weaponized” and “bastardized” by the political right despite it historically pertaining to understanding racial injustices.

“Don’t tell me that the left hasn’t changed,” Maher said. “I mean, I’m old enough to remember when it was the conservatives that hated Jews. That was a joke…But it’s true, if I have any doubt about the change that’s happened on the left, watching people protest for a terrorist organization like Hamas, that straightened me up pretty quick.”

The comedian also told Behar that she was losing “credibility” by self-censoring criticisms of then-President Joe Biden.

“I’m nervous about saying anything against Biden because I feel, not that I have so much power — and you have some more than I do obviously. Are you afraid that might influence people who are on the fence?” Behar asked.

“I think you lose all credibility. I do. I mean, my bond with my audience has always been [that] I don’t pull a punch,” Maher said. “My bond with my audience is you’re not gonna like everything I say, but you know I’m saying what I really think is true.”

Moreover, Maher called out Goldberg on a July 28 episode of his podcast for suggesting in a June episode of “The View” that America treats black people just as badly as Iran treats its own citizens.

“That is something that, again, is infuriating about the far left, I would say … Not the woke, the stupid woke, like Whoopi Goldberg, love her, but when she said a couple weeks ago that being black was the same as being a woman in Iran, it’s like, yeah, in 1920, but not today,” Maher said.

“The View” is currently on its annual summer hiatus, which usually goes through the month of August, according to TheDecider.
