Cabinet Office Spending £280,000 to Build One Ceiling

The Cabinet Office has lodged an application for a new ceiling for the southern lift shaft at their 70 Whitehall headquarters. The Tories’ Richard Holden asked how much it would cost:
“As part of the ongoing refurbishment works on the 4th Floor of 70 Whitehall, the Cabinet Office has submitted an application for the installation of a ceiling within the southern lift shaft. The total budget for this work, including all fees and VAT, is £280k.“
That’s just the initial budget. If costs rose at the same proportion as they did for the recently-completed Peers’ Entrance at the House of Lords, the ceiling would cost £440,664…
