Soros-Backed Philly DA Warns Donald Trump, The White House Claps Back [WATCH]

The White House issued a statement late Wednesday addressing remarks by Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner, who warned President Donald Trump against taking steps in Philadelphia similar to those used in Washington, D.C., when federal authorities assumed greater control over law enforcement in response to crime.

“Of course this Democrat, Soros-backed DA is upset that the president is taking bold action to crack down on violent crime,” White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson told Fox News Digital.

“Philly has allowed crime to run rampant and provided sanctuary to violent criminal illegal aliens. And George Soros is funding protests against law and order in DC.”

Jackson said Democrats’ approval ratings remain at “record lows” due to leaders such as Krasner “oppos[ing] commonsense efforts to stop violent crime and restore safety to America’s streets.”

Krasner made his comments late Tuesday during an interview with CNN, warning that Trump “better not try it in Philly” and referring to him as a “convicted criminal” who allegedly opposes public safety and seeks to become a “dictator.”

“[Trump] may think he’s going to try it in other places. But the fact is, legally, he has much less of a right to do any of this in other cities,” Krasner said.

He has been supported politically by Hungarian-American billionaire George Soros.

Krasner described Trump as “the emergency” and urged, “If you want your democracy, you better stand up now.”

His warning came just days after former judge Patrick Dugan, a Democrat, announced he would run on the Republican line in November in a bid to unseat Krasner.

Philadelphia Democratic Party Chairman Bob Brady responded by removing Dugan from the party, saying, “we don’t want liars in our party.”

Krasner also cited Trump’s criminal convictions in New York City, claiming he “pardons people who are criminals and do pretty dastardly things” and blamed the president for the deaths of five law enforcement officers who responded to the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

“There is no indication that this man is in favor of law-abiding behavior of public safety. But he is in favor of power. He is in favor of fascism. He is in favor of ending democracy,” Krasner said.

When asked how he would respond if Trump attempted to intervene in Philadelphia — the sixth-largest city in the United States, and home to one of the largest open-air drug markets in the Kensington neighborhood — Krasner said he hoped Pennsylvania judges “still believe in the law, even if some of his hacks on the Supreme Court do not.”

Calling Philadelphia the “cradle of democracy,” Krasner said, “that’s why our name has been in [Trump’s] mouth in malicious ways for a very, very long time.”

He rejected assertions that Philadelphia is facing a crime crisis, stating that homicides are at their lowest level in 50 years and that incarceration rates are also low.

“This is a profoundly unAmerican attempt to exercise power in ways that are illegal, to scare big cities, and to go after Democratic cities that are diverse, to serve his racist, fascist agenda… [W]e all have to stand up to it,” Krasner said.

In 2022, Pennsylvania Republicans in the state legislature — with a GOP-controlled Senate and a narrowly Democratic-controlled House — moved to impeach Krasner.

The effort was blocked when Commonwealth Court Judge Ellen Ceisler ruled that the standard of “misbehavior in office” was not met by the seven articles of impeachment filed by the House.
