Russia Hoax Charges — The Coming Democrat Trials | The American Spectator

Long following — and long suffering — consumers of political news who lean Republican suffer from chronic pessimism. This may or may not be through fault of theirs, but the syndrome itself is too widespread to be deniable.

It works like this. If Democrats are in power and they announce an “investigation” of Republicans, we may rest assured those Repubs will be broke and broken at the end of the process.

So, Donald Trump, Pam Bondi, Kash Patel, Stephen Miller, Dan Bongino, you have gone beyond the tough talk and put evidence on the table.

We should not exaggerate by claiming there is nowhere they can “go to get their reputation back.” Those were the words of Ray Donovan, a former Labor Secretary under Reagan who suffered a miscarriage of justice, or a high-priced carriage running amok.

After all, there is the Charles Colson method of rehabilitation, which involves obtaining priestly ordination and devoting one’s life to providing moral support for penitents. (Many TAS readers know him and love him for that work.)

Other than that escape hatch, there is only the black hole, or what Jews call Kaf HaKela, the Slingshot-of-the-Soul, bouncing relentlessly from hopefulness to hopelessness and back again.

By contrast, Democrat “suspects” under Republican administrations laugh themselves silly, making unexpected new moneys for traveling the media landscape and visiting their Liberal confessionals: “I only regret that I have but one lie to give for my country.”

This rule also admits to a single exception, the case of Senator Menendez, who was so outstandingly dumb he managed to be convicted and expelled from the Senate during Joe Biden’s Democrat administration.

It seems he was a bit too uxorious, his wife too luxurious, for them to fly beneath the radar. They were caught with gold bars in their basement, and even the Bar Association could not help them wiggle out of that one.

Bought the gold at the Bar Gain Basement, anyone? I guess not.

Short of embarrassingly (more so than Nancy Pelosi’s portfolio outperforming EVERY mutual fund in 2024) excessive abuse of office for personal gain, Democrats remain impervious. They skate on the thinnest ice.

They live in glass houses and throw stones! Dems can call Trump a Russian spy, doctor the docs, and impeach him! Chief Justice won’t show? Invent a new form of impeachment: Cheap Justice. No rule of law, no law of rules.

When Republicans take the reins, they pore over documents. Committees hold hard hearings, then are hard of hearing. Democrat witnesses plead the Fifth, then celebrate by drinking a fifth. The committees hear hearings, find findings and report reports.

They kill time, exhume it, then kill it again. They run fundraising campaigns, they run for reelection, then they run for the hills. They see evil, hear evil, speak of evil, but indict no evil. Democrats make monkeys of them.

Now, in August of 2025, they claim a new time has come. They have the documentation to prove the conspiracy. There was no Russiagate, only a Russia hoax. And Obama coaxed the hoax! Time to come for Comey, clap for Clapper and burn Brennan.

Well, the time for humor is done. The great King Solomon, in his work Ecclesiastes (3:1-4) says [my translation], “There is a (appropriate) time for everything and a (appointed) time for every goal beneath the heavens … a time to tear down and a time to build. A time to cry and a time to laugh.”

Small government types, good government devotees, have shielded consciousness from disappointment by insulating it from ambition. Fear of overreaching leaves them reaching.

They are like the ones who won’t love because they can’t afford to lose. They fear commitment because they dread disappointment. Too paralyzed to marry before the Justice of the Peace; too paranoid of a potential day in Divorce Court settling the justice of the pieces.

So, Donald Trump, Pam Bondi, Kash Patel, Stephen Miller, Dan Bongino, you have gone beyond the tough talk and put evidence on the table. You are impaneling grand juries. You are declassifying enough horrid, slimy, repellent paperwork to make a Kafka trial or a Camus plague into a Disney cartoon by comparison.

But you had better be damned sure to bring charges and press charges and set off some depth charges. These rascals have violated every law and every standard of decency, all while scolding us for our lack of refinement. The time for accounting is now. We are done crying.
