Conservative Attorney General Andrew Bailey Tapped For High-Ranking FBI Post

The Trump administration has tapped Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey to serve as co-deputy director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Fox News Digital reported Monday.

Bailey will join the FBI’s top ranks as co-deputy director, stepping into a newly restructured leadership role alongside current Deputy Director Dan Bongino, according to Fox News Digital. Attorney General Pam Bondi praised the decision, calling Bailey a “decorated war veteran” and a “dedicated public servant” whose experience as a state prosecutor will strengthen the bureau’s mission.

“I am thrilled to welcome Andrew Bailey as Co-Deputy Director of the FBI,” Bondi told Fox News Digital. “He has served as a distinguished state attorney general and is a decorated war veteran, bringing expertise and dedication to service. His leadership and commitment to country will be a tremendous asset as we work together to advance President Trump’s mission.”

FBI Director Kash Patel said Bailey’s appointment is part of a broader effort to align the bureau with President Donald Trump’s second-term agenda, emphasizing the need for top-tier talent to carry out the administration’s priorities. “The FBI, as the leading investigative body of the federal government under the Department of Justice, will always bring the greatest talent this country has to offer in order to accomplish the goals set forth when an overwhelming majority of American people elected President Donald J. Trump again,” Patel told Fox News Digital, adding that Bailey will be an “integral part of this important mission” and said he looks forward to “the continued fight to save America together.”

As Missouri attorney general, Bailey spearheaded a statewide crackdown on human trafficking, launching a dedicated task force and tackled over 1,100 reported cases. He also eliminated a backlog of untested rape kits, strengthening the state’s ability to prosecute sexual assault.

Under his leadership, the attorney general’s office defended the St. Louis police in civil suits and championed pro-law enforcement policies, earning an endorsement from the Missouri Fraternal Order of Police. His tenure also saw a 133% rise in criminal prosecutions at the trial court level.
