Actor Chris Pratt is pushing back against critics of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., saying that hostility toward the current Secretary of Health and Human Services has more to do with his ties to President Donald Trump than with policy, as reported by The Blaze.
Speaking on comedian Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast, Pratt, who is married to Katherine Schwarzenegger and connected to the Kennedy family through his mother-in-law Maria Shriver, explained why he believes Kennedy Jr. is unfairly targeted.

“In politics, you inherit enemies,” Pratt told Maher. “And when you jump in on the bandwagon with the most divisive president ever, it makes sense that you’re going to be made to look terrible.”

Pratt argued that critics who dislike Kennedy Jr. simply because of his role in Trump’s administration are motivated by blind hatred.
“I’d hate to be so mired in hatred for the president that any success from his administration is something I’d have an allergic reaction to — to be like, ‘Oh, well, if they do it, I don’t want it to happen. I’ll put Clorox in my children’s cereal myself!’” Pratt joked.

Maher agreed, saying the media cannot ignore that Kennedy Jr. has taken on major industries over issues related to public health.
“He is over the target regarding toxic ingredients in food and pharmaceuticals being used by children,” Maher said, adding that Kennedy has stood out for fighting big corporations on behalf of the public.
Pratt also said he believes much of the negative press about him personally is built on shaky ground. “I’ve seen how the person you are can be such a contrast to the person that people are being told that you are,” he said. “Politics, it’s a nasty business.”
He emphasized that responding to every false claim only fuels misinformation. “Proverb 26:20, ‘For lack of wood the fire will go out,’” Pratt said, explaining that he would rather let false claims fade than amplify them by addressing them publicly.
The conversation also turned toward broader political issues. Both Maher and Pratt expressed support for American troops, with Maher sharing that his parents met while serving in the Army.

He said that although he does not always agree with U.S. foreign policy, he has always had “a soft spot” for the military.
Maher also criticized those who claim the U.S. is the worst country in the world. “If you think we’re the worst country in the world, then just fking do some research. Just fking noodle around the internet. You will find a lot of people who did a lot of worse things,” Maher said.
Pratt concluded by saying that he wants to see every part of the administration succeed. “There are certain things that would be a good thing to have. I want them all to be successful,” he said.
