Foreign Office Wastes £926,000 on Lost Computers, Phones, and Missed Travel
Fresh figures from the Foreign Office accounts show it spaffed £926,000 on lost computers, phones and missed travel. In the “losses statement”, the report explains in 2024-25 there were:
“Variety of losses and fruitless payments in relation to lost IT and mobile equipment, missed travel, interest charges for late payments, unrecoverable advances and some programme-related stolen and looted assets.”
Though the report doesn’t provide a breakdown of the losses, at the end of the section the department helpfully adds: “The FCDO takes a robust approach to pursuing loss recovery.” At least Lammy had his £50,000 summer party to soften the blow…
