A Republican C-SPAN caller on Tuesday noted that former President Joe Biden did not have an agenda to end the Russia-Ukraine war that started during his tenure.
Under Biden’s administration, the U.S. spent billions of dollars in aid after the war began in 2022 to support Ukraine in its fight. The caller, on “Washington Journal,” rated President Donald Trump an A+ for his endeavors to end the war, contrasting his approach with Biden’s.

“[Trump] got involved. He’s at least doing something. Look at the leaders he brought over from Europe yesterday and look at how they praised him for what he’s doing. Joe Biden did nothing,” the caller said. “He went on the beach and fell asleep. He was just throwing money at this thing. He wasn’t doing anything to try to end this war.”
“And Trump doesn’t like to see people die. Contrary to what all of the Democrats who call in here every day and say — that he’s a Nazi, a fascist — this guy is trying to make peace around the world. And he’s doing it,” he continued. “And people better just start waking up that he’s going to be known as the greatest president of all time.”
Biden announced on Dec. 30 that the federal government was sending $2.5 billion in security assistance to Ukraine in the final days of his presidency in part to help the Ukrainians secure equipment for artillery and air defense systems, according to the White House. In his official statement, Biden said that he was “surging as much assistance to Ukraine as quickly as possible,” despite Trump campaigning on ending the bloody conflict.
Russian President Vladimir Putin also claimed on Friday during a joint press conference with Trump in Alaska that the conflict could have been evaded if Trump had been in office and expressed optimism about finally terminating it.
“Today, when President Trump is saying that if he was the President back then, there would be no war, and I’m quite sure that it would indeed be so. I can confirm that,” Putin said. “I think that overall, me and President Trump have built a very good business-like and trustworthy contact, and I have every reason to believe that moving down this path, we can come at the summit back to the end of the conflict in Ukraine.”
After Trump’s Alaska summit with Putin on Friday, the U.S. president hosted many European leaders at the White House on Monday to discuss ending the war, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
Nearly 70% of Ukrainians desire “a negotiated end to the war as soon as possible,” while just 24% support their nation “continuing to fight until victory,” according to Gallup polling conducted in July. CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten said on “CNN News Central” Monday that at the beginning of the war, Ukrainians held nearly the opposite view.
