U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., is melting down over the price of vegetables and is putting the blame squarely on President Donald Trump.
“The wholesale price of vegetables skyrocketed by a whopping 40 PERCENT in July,” Warren claimed in a social media post.
“You can thank Donald Trump’s chaotic tariff policies,” she added on X, where she linked to a Today report pointing to a “potential new price hike at the grocery store.”

“In July 2025, wholesale prices for domestic fresh and dry vegetables skyrocketed 38.9% compared to a year ago, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics,” the report indicated, noting that the “nearly 40% increase is the biggest one-month move for a summer month in almost a century.”
While critics like Warren want to blame Trump for all the nation’s ills, NBC senior business correspondent Christine Romans reported that there are multiple factors behind the soaring vegetable prices, including drought and weather conditions affecting farming.
But Trump was in the target range again as the report claimed his “efforts to deport undocumented people across the country have left many farm workers nervous to show up to work.”
“This spike is something I think that just reminds people that the cost of living is still issue number one and there are still some significant pressures in terms of the prices were paying every day for everyday items. You can’t swap out vegetables. Vegetables are a pretty important part of the menu,” Romans said.
During an appearance on WBZ-TV’s “Keller @Large” program on Sunday, Warren continued her attacks on Trump.
“The cost of housing is up. The cost of health care is up. The cost of groceries is up. The cost of utilities is up,” she said. “In other words, Donald Trump not only hasn’t delivered on the promise to lower costs, but what we’re seeing is that costs are up, up, up.”
Last month, Warren touted communist policies like those suggested by New York City mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani for government-run grocery stores.

Social media users on X threw cold water on Warren’s vegetable fire alarm.
Become a farmer for your family. Or support local farmers market. You can, also, eat seasonally.

Time to buy in-season locally produced vegetables and support American farmers.

True but misleading. Consumer vegetable prices (the price you pay at the store) have remained the same. As Trump predicted, the sellers are eating the cost difference to remain competitive.@grok Has there been an increase in US vegetable prices at the grocery store over the…

It means people in charge like you were trying to destroy our country and fighting every bit of the reason we elected Donald Trump to save ourselves from people like you

I love TDS. I especially love it when fake Indian Pokahontas trolls President Trump. I know the disease is torture for her, but I am amused. I LOVE TDS
