New details surrounding the death of professional wrestling icon Hulk Hogan have prompted questions about a possible surgical error that may have contributed to his passing.
Hogan, whose real name was Terry Bollea, died on July 24 at the age of 71. According to the Pinellas County Forensic Science Center, his cause of death was ruled to be a heart attack.
A new report from TMZ Sports has suggested that the recent death of Hulk Hogan may have been the result of medical malpractice, according to sources connected to the case. Records also noted that he had a history of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), a cancer affecting white blood cells, as well as an irregular heartbeat.
However, concerns about Hogan’s medical treatment surfaced following comments from his wife, Sky Daily, and others close to the former WWE champion.
Daily told TMZ Sports that Hogan’s phrenic nerve was “compromised” during a recent surgery.

The phrenic nerve controls the diaphragm, which is essential to breathing, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
TMZ further reported that an occupational therapist who was at Hogan’s home in Clearwater, Florida, when he stopped breathing informed police that a surgeon had “severed” the phrenic nerve during the procedure.
The claims were reportedly discussed by police officers at the scene, with the conversations captured on body camera footage.
TMZ indicated that the police report has been placed on “lockdown.”
Daily also confirmed that while an autopsy had been completed, the results have not been publicly disclosed.
She added earlier this month that Hogan’s cremation had been delayed due to questions about his medical care.
As of Thursday, she said he had not yet been cremated.
Hogan’s daughter, Brooke, has also spoken out regarding her father’s death, saying she has received information suggesting further investigation is needed.
Brooke, 37, addressed the matter in a series of Instagram Story posts on Wednesday.
“Here’s ALL I KNOW. So stop speculating, stop asking. I have also informed my brother [Nick Hogan] of all of this information who is boots on the ground with everything,” she wrote.
She continued, “FACT: I’ve 100% gotten legit calls from professionals — from police officials to nurses that were supposedly with my dad on the day of his death telling ME I need to see body cam footage and I need to get a hold of the 911 tapes because they supposedly contain information that could potentially shed enough light to change the narrative we/I/everyone’s been hearing.”
Brooke added that the individuals who contacted her believe the information they witnessed is significant.
“Those same professionals feel so passionately about what they witnessed, they have continued to contact me and push me to find specific answers to this very day. They are quite literally putting their careers at risk because they feel so compelled to do the right thing.”
The circumstances surrounding Hogan’s death remain under review as speculation continues about whether the reported surgical complication played a role.
Officials have not confirmed whether the alleged severing of the phrenic nerve contributed to the wrestling legend’s passing, and the results of the autopsy have not yet been made public.
